Over 2,000 of you have now sent letters opposing the Fortress Mountain All-Season Resort proposal — thank you 🤎
This proposal represents a profoundly unsustainable and inappropriate use of the All-Seasons Resort Act, with a year‑round resort featuring hotels, gondolas, retail areas, real estate, and an exhaustive list of summer and winter activities — as well as almost 10,000 anticipated daily visitors.
, and the wildlife like who call the region home, simply cannot sustain such an increase in pressure 🐻
Importantly, however, this proposal is about more than just 'one' All-Season Resort. It's about the precedent it sets for removing public land to make way for private development at the stroke of a pen, with little advance warning or opportunity for Albertans to speak up ahead of time being given.
It’s sneakier and subtler than the closure and privatizing of more than 140 parks that happened in the original era, but it's arguably no less dangerous ⛰️
If you love this region, and want to see it protected, please consider sending a letter — and, if you have already, forwarding it to someone you know who hasn't:
