Saudi Arabia and Türkiye are planning a railway from Jeddah to Istanbul, passing through Makkah, Madinah, Jordan, and Syria. A feasibility study is set to be done by the end of 2026. The project brings back the vision of the original Hejaz Railway, built by the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II over 120 years ago. No construction date has been set yet.
