Long hiatus from posting, so we obviously have to start with a huge thanks to all the folks who made summer ‘25 so special!

Through rapids and bear encounters, bush flights and late nights, you all brought smiles and laughter, determination and the willingness to be challenged. We are forever grateful for the memories and experiences we share together!

There’s magic everywhere! After 4 days of rapids and laughter, on our last full day of paddling on a PAC adventure on the Lower Petawawa River in , we rolled into our campsite and saw a juvenile black bear overturning rocks on the riverbank opposite. We cooked riverside pizza as we watched him devour ants and other bugs, then enjoyed the serenity of the beautiful sunset and good company in the comfort of the great outdoors.

We’re in the process of planning the finer details of our 2025 summer lineup!

PAC will be exploring some new horizons and re-acquainting ourselves with some of our favourite places. No matter your level of experience - from total beginner to experienced river runner - we have a trip for you. Our 3 day intro to whitewater trip on the Lower Madawaska River is perfect for beginners, and our new expeditionary offerings offer challenges for experienced adventurers.

Packrafting isn’t just about paddling. In fact, the act of paddling is just a small part of what packrafting ‘is’.

It’s about, building relationships, creating community, forging new friendships, and strengthening old ones. It’s about self discovery, flexing your inner strength, developing your resilience, and challenging your mind and body. It’s about exploring new places, learning to love the natural world, and finding comfort and peace in the wild. It’s about passion, joie de vivre, laughter, hugs, and high fives. It’s about living a life well lived.

Why do we spend time on our trips focusing on basic whitewater skills and knowledge?

With plenty of opportunity for repetition and practice, these skills form a solid foundation that enables participants to get into the thick of it! In paddling, the progression from total beginner to experienced paddler is one of balance - ramping up the challenge at an appropriate pace, creating a safe and comfortable learning environment, while pushing individual limits in small increments at just the right moment.

One of our favourite things is watching those moments of understanding, when several pieces click into place. Another is allowing space for participants to choose their path and take on the challenges in front of them at their own pace. When we arrive at a rapid, scout, and someone in the group says “I see what I need to do, and I think I can do it, I’m going for it!” that, for us, is 👌!

Often, being in the right place is enough. But then the right time comes along too, and leaves you in awe. On a private training booking this past August, we were fortunate to witness the wondrous magic of the night sky. My guest Alex was an enthusiastic landscape photographer, as am I. Around 11pm we went down to the shoreline of the upper set at with our cameras hoping to shoot some stars, and were elated and filled with gratitude when the Aurora made an appearance over Jessup’s.

Alex enjoying the bounty of nature at High Tension on the Upper Gatineau. These beautiful wild spaces provide endless lessons and the perfect environment for personal growth, as well as riverside snacks to nourish and excite the senses. Keep your eyes out for an advanced packrafting weekend in 2025 on the Upper Gatineau river if you too would like to enjoy Quebec raspberries. Whitewater packrafting included.

Fun and games on the Upper Petawawa! Our 7 day adventure took us through many epic drops and some tight lines. Navigating this river at different water levels makes for a new challenge every time.

Interested in learning to paddle whitewater? We offer instruction in all type of inflatables - Alpackaraft, Soar, Kokopelli - you name it! Just not blow up sharks or flamingos…

There are still spots available for our Madawaska River Adventure taking place August 16-18. This is the perfect introduction to whitewater packrafting, including a full day of skills training at Palmer Rapids, followed by a two day trip on the Lower Madawaska river.
