🐦🌊 **What a day on the water for our bird tour!**

We had an incredible mix of pelagic birds and marine life, with plenty to keep everyone watching the sky and sea!

Our sightings included:

✨ Great Shearwaters
✨ Sooty Shearwaters
✨ Manx Shearwaters
✨ Atlantic Puffins
✨ Razorbills
✨ Common Murres
✨ Northern Gannets
✨ Great Skua **and/or** South Polar Skua — an exciting one to puzzle over!
✨ Red-necked Phalaropes
✨ Leach’s Storm-Petrels
✨ Wilson’s Storm-Petrels
✨ Great Cormorant
✨ Double-crested Cormorant
✨ Lesser Black-backed Gull
✨ Herring Gulls

And it wasn’t just about the birds! We also spotted **Mola mola (ocean sunfish)** and **humpback whales** along the way. 🐋🐟

There’s something pretty special about heading offshore and never knowing what might show up. A fantastic day of pelagic birding aboard the **Day’s Catch** with Sea Watch Tours! 💙

🌊 **WHALE WATCHING CANCELLED TODAY** 🌧️

Unfortunately, we have made the decision to **cancel today’s whale watching tour** due to the incoming southerly winds and rain.

We know everyone is excited to get out on the water, but we also want you to be safe, comfortable, and able to truly enjoy your time with us. With the conditions expected today, we don’t feel it would be the experience we want to provide.

The Bay of Fundy gets the final say sometimes! 🌊💨

Thank you so much for your understanding, and we hope to welcome you aboard the Day’s Catch on a better weather day soon. 🐋💙

A familiar face was back aboard the Day’s Catch today! 🐦🌊

Master birder Durlan spent many, many years aboard the Day’s Catch, sharing his incredible knowledge and sharp eye with birders from near and far. These days, he’s mostly retired from life aboard—but every now and then, especially when there’s a good pelagic birding trip involved, he sneaks out of retirement. 😉

Today’s lucky birders get the best of both worlds: the crew from Day’s Catch and birding expertise from Durlan! 😂🐦

It’s always a treat to have him back aboard, even if we only manage to lure him out for the birds every now and then. Some things are just too hard to retire from! ❤️

🐋 Now THIS is whale watching!🌊

Nothing quite like seeing these incredible animals up close — especially when they decide to put on a show with a few big tail slaps! 💦🐋

Whale Watching Tours are now departing daily at 12 NOON, making it easier than ever to visit Grand Manan and join us **all in one day!** 🙌

Come across on the morning ferry, spend the afternoon out on the Bay of Fundy with us, and experience a little bit of Grand Manan magic before heading home. ❤️ (must have own transportation).

🐦💙 A bittersweet little moment on our last scheduled MSI trip of the season…

While we were out at Machias Seal Island, our little boat babies fledged the nest!🥹

It was almost as if they knew it was our last scheduled tour to MSI and decided it was time for them to head off on their own too. We’ve loved watching them grow from tiny little hatchlings into feathered youngsters ready to take on the world.

What a special way to close out our MSI season. 💙

And just like that… the babies are off, our scheduled MSI trips are wrapped up, and now it’s time to turn our sights to the whales!🐋🌊

They've grown up so fast! 🐦💙

If you've joined us on a tour this summer, you might remember the tiny barn swallow babies that hatched in the nest aboard the *Day's Catch*. Well... they're not so tiny anymore!

These little ones are now stretching their wings, getting stronger every day, and are almost ready to take on the world. It's been such a privilege to watch them grow throughout the season. Mom and Dad are still busy keeping them fed, and they continue to make the boat their home between trips.

Nature has a way of making every tour a little different, and these feathered crew members have certainly stolen a few hearts along the way.

For the next week, our office will be operating a bit differently as I am taking a little break to prepare for my term final.

🌊 **Tour Update – Monday & Tuesday** 🌊

Unfortunately, **all Sea Watch Tours for Monday and Tuesday have been cancelled** due to the forecasted strong winds and unsafe sea conditions.

As much as we would love to be out on the Bay sharing our beautiful island, the safety of our passengers and crew will always come first. The current forecast isn't showing conditions that would allow for a safe or enjoyable experience.

We know these cancellations are disappointing, especially for those who have been looking forward to their tour, and we truly appreciate your understanding. Mother Nature always has the final say!

We'll continue to keep a close eye on the marine forecast and are hopeful for calmer seas later in the week. Thank you for your patience and continued support of our small, island business. ❤️
