It has been a while! Hope Everyone is having an interesting start to the new year. We took a stroll in Sunday’s fog. It seems like it has been months since we took a good stroll. The fog was beautiful and the winter partridge berries were a treasure. We will soon be opening up the booking calendar for Snug Harbour House & the seaweed bath house for this Spring and Summer and are starting to think about what the summer season will look like for Grates Cove. Co. Enjoy your evening. Talk again soon.

🌊✨ From Soak to Sip: The Seaweed Wellness Ritual ✨🌊

After a seaweed bath, we invite you to continue the ritual with our warm Seaweed Wellness Broth. This mineral-rich broth is served in our cozy ocean-view sunroom café — the perfect place to rest, rehydrate, and take in the view.

💚 Why we drink it first thing in the morning:

Replenishes the body with essential minerals like magnesium, potassium, and calcium

Fuels your system with natural antioxidants and polysaccharides that calm inflammation

Supports digestion and overall gut health

Promotes deep hydration and a gentle energy boost to start your day

It’s more than a broth — it’s an ocean-to-body wellness practice, helping you restore balance inside and out.

📍 Experience the full ritual: seaweed bath ➝ wellness broth ➝ rest by the ocean.

Ever wondered what makes a seaweed bath so powerful? 🌊✨
Our hand-harvested Laminaria digitata releases a rich, silky gel filled with marine bioactives — fucoidan to calm inflammation and support repair, beta-glucans to strengthen the skin barrier, alginates to lock in hydration, and antioxidants like phlorotannins and fucoxanthin to protect against stress and free radicals. As you soak, your skin drinks in deep moisture, your body absorbs trace minerals like magnesium, and your mind and body begin to release tension.

More than a bath, it’s a seaweed-powered reset for skin, body, and spirit.

📍 Experience it at Snug Harbour House

It continues to be an absolute privilege to volunteer alongside our neighbours preparing meals for our firefighters. On Sunday, we made a chicken stir-fry and sandwiches.

With your help, we raised an additional $3543.07 and donated $600 to Pack the Backpack. You all are incredible!

Our neighbour Canace is hosting a shed party this weekend with donations going to the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department Fundraiser (traditionally held in Ochre Pit Cove, now moving online and into our communities this year). We’ll be making a donation there and to our local fire departments. Remaining funds will also support any additional meals for first responders and those coordinating immediate needs.

From Terrence, Phoenix, and me: all our love to our greater community. If our building, our voice, our hands—anything we have—can help in this long recovery, we’re here.
Thank you to every volunteer, first responder, and donor. 💙

A portion of the donations we receive over the next few days will go directly to this effort. You can contribute at [email protected].

At the same time, we remain committed to supporting our amazing firefighters. On Sunday, volunteers joined us in preparing mac & cheese with bacon and grilled chicken and coleslaw. Under the coordination of the , local restaurants—including Jimmy's Place B&B , and .mess.tent.poutinerie and Grates Cove Co—are providing meals for crews on this side of the fire and now in the Victoria area.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised another $𝟓𝟒𝟓. 💛

These wonderful volunteers are bringing new life into our building. They laughed and sang their hearts out while preparing goulash and garlic bread with Sandra’s own homegrown garlic.
We send our deepest gratitude and support to the firefighters and hope the rain and cooler temperatures bring some relief.
Thank you to all responders, donors, and volunteers. You all helped raise another $1911.44.

Thank you for your continued support that is allowing area businesses and nonprofits to do what they can to support the amazing crew helping to fight this fire. Another $1050 was raised. Thank you to all donors and volunteers. Yesterday we prepared another chicken stir-fry and tuna pasta salad and prepped for additional meals. The fight is heavy right now. Please send your Love to all who are fighting this fire and all who are affected.

I imagine this will be an ongoing effort for some time to come. If you can help prepare meals, please reach out. We have tomorrow covered. If you can help in the kitchen another day, please reach out.

Take good care, Everyone.
