Overheard at a Chapter Meeting:

“I kept blaming people for dropping balls but the truth was, the process was mostly living in my head.”

When you’ve been doing something for years, it can feel obvious… to you.

But obvious to the owner does not mean clear to the team.

One business owner shared how much improved once they stopped relying on memory, assumptions, and quick Slack messages to run key parts of the business.

They started documenting.

Not everything and not perfectly. Just the repeatable things that kept causing confusion.

The result they reporter were:

Fewer mistakes.
Less back-and-forth.
More consistency.
A team that could own the work.

The best/next CEO move isn’t always exciting.

One of the most expensive things in your business might be a decision you have NOT made yet.

Could be a service that's not profitable anymore, a client relationship that's taking way more than it gives, or a process you've outgrown but keep working around.

It's easy to convince yourself that you need MORE information, MORE time or a better moment to make a change. And sometimes you do! But there's also a cost to... keeping things exactly as they are.

Overheard at a Chapter Meeting:

"I finally hired someone to take things off my plate… and then I kept doing the work anyway."

The whole table laughed. Then went silent. Because, well… ouch.

One owner shared what finally shifted it for her: she stopped asking "can they do it as well as me?" and started asking "can they do it well enough that I can go do the thing only I can do?"

Remember Busytown?

The mail carrier. The shopkeeper. The doctor. The teacher. The mechanic.

Today we celebrate 2 years having Laura as part of our Power Group Team at Power Wealth and Power Connects!

Many of you know Laura as "The Queen," as we so proudly refer to her within Power Connects. She supports and manages all our business owner members with a level of grace and care that is unmatched. Imagine managing 50 business owners weekly (we are not easy to wrangle!).

I know her as my business partner, confidante, and true friend. She has been on a wild ride with me the last 2 years, and I could not imagine my life or the businesses without her. Grateful every day, and we're just getting started!

Here's to TWO YEARS! ✌️💕

Referrals don't have to be something you wait around and hope will happen.

You can bake them into your business.

A strong referral system can be pretty simple.

> Make sure your clients and network know what a great referral looks like for you.

> Build asking for introductions into your client experience.

> Stay connected with past clients and referral partners.

> And when someone sends business your way, make sure they know you appreciate it.

Yes, a great reputation will generate referrals naturally.

BUT putting a little intention behind it can turn referrals into a much more consistent source of business.

So, your Monday question: What's your referral system? Do you have one yet?

If not, this might be a good week to build one.

Overheard at a Chapter Meeting:

"I didn't hire the wrong person. I hired the right person for a job I never properly defined."

He'd been drowning, so he hired fast. Warm body, decent résumé, start Monday. Six months later, they were both frustrated and neither could say exactly what the role was supposed to be.

The chapter's advice?

Before you post the job, write down what "great" looks like in 90 days and if you can't describe it, you're not ready to hire for it. You're just ready to share chaos.
