Some people escape winter. We drive straight into it. ❄️

12 days on the road, from Whitehorse all the way to the Arctic Ocean. Frozen highways, ice roads, endless tundra, crossing the Arctic Circle, exploring remote northern communities, dog sledding, ice fishing, and maybe even a few northern lights along the way.

All from our little home on wheels. 🚐

Who needs a ski resort when you’ve got a school bus? 🚌

7 days of backcountry skiing, chasing good snow, and coming home to a wood stove, homemade meals, and a warm bed.

No crowded lifts. No fancy lodges. Just big mountains, good company, and our slightly unconventional mobile basecamp.

Worth it? Hell yes. But we’ll let you decide. 🌋

On a trip this far north, there are always two planners.

We leave Whitehorse with a route, a fully stocked Squatch Bus, fuel, food, 12 days, and a pretty detailed plan.

Then the Arctic gets the final edit.

A storm can change the road in an hour. Ice conditions, wind and visibility can change the pace. That is why we leave room in the itinerary, rather than trying to force a remote winter expedition into a fixed schedule.

Being flexible is not the compromise up here. It is what makes the trip possible, and what lets us do it properly.

And sometimes the Arctic makes the best edits: the storm moves out, the sky clears, the northern lights come on, and a good day becomes one you will never forget.

You do not always get exactly what was on paper. Sometimes you get something that blows your mind ✨

Not necessarily the biggest views or the most epic moments. Just a lot of happy faces from a summer around the Yukon.

And in the end, that’s pretty much why we do this.

The Yusquatch map is getting a little bigger. 🌎

We’re heading south with 3 very different adventures: from Mexico’s highest peak, to trekking and packrafting through Patagonia, to heading high into the Bolivian Andes.

What’s it like to live on our buses? 🚌

Most days start with a hike and end somewhere pretty wild. One bus is our little lodge on wheels; the other becomes basecamp wherever we park.

And being back at camp doesn’t always mean the day is over. We might pull the paddleboards off the roof, climb up there for the view, or settle in around a campfire. Later, it’s a cozy dinner, a warm woodstove, and maybe someone calling everyone outside because the northern lights are out.

Somewhere between the long hikes, shared meals, and living together on a bus, strangers start to feel like friends.

Our Ultimate Yukon Hiking Adventure continued north, towards Dawson City and Tombstone Territorial Park.

Only three weeks ago, Tombstone was golden. Now, the tundra has turned deep red and orange, lime-green lichen lights up the rocks, and the first snow has dusted the mountain peaks. 🍁🍂

Tombstone might just be our favourite place to bring you. Partly because of the views, and partly because of the look on your face when you see them.
