ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎨 Meet Stan Olthuis — our final Artist Fellow of the season!

🖌️ Based in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough, Ontario, Stan is a multidisciplinary artist who employs methods, materials and mediums that he feels best carry each concept.

His work is often informed by the theory of interconnectedness of all life within a shared consciousness.

🌱 During his stay at Baylight cabin, Stan found that the remote, natural, serene surroundings reconnected him to the simple basics of writing, drawing and painting.

This process, germinated the seeds of a new body of work in development.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎨 Meet Tanya Fenkell — our latest Artist Fellow of the season.

🖌️ Tanya is a Toronto-based painter, textile artist, and writer who works with watercolour, natural fibres, birch bark, and found metal.

🌱 She is deeply inspired by the sanctuary of the natural world and her work is centred on the profound and fragile privilege of time spent in nature.

🌲 During her time at Big Rock cabin, Tanya created a series of small watercolour sketches based on the surroundings and two larger paintings.

🌧️ The rainy weather proved perfect for writing, helping her gain momentum on her poetry collection in progress called ‘Fragments’.

🖌️ Based in Toronto, Ontario, Devin is an artist who uses oil paintings of Canadian nature to raise money for land conservation.

🌱 His goal is to use art to amplify the impact of land conservation in Canada.

🖌️ Based in Toronto, Ontario, Segun is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller working across animation and games in character design and visual development.

His work is deeply inspired by his Nigerian culture, music, and the beauty of everyday life.

🌱During his stay at our Burdock cabin, Segun created a quiet scene of Dukiya and her beloved cow waiting for the cloud guardians above, a piece inspired by nature, stillness, and the wonder of childhood curiosity.
