The final look at Muir Hotel.
After more than 20 years in the tourism industry, I never imagined I’d see a hotel like this in my own city. A few times, I had to remind myself I was in Halifax.
The art begins the moment you walk in, from the glass and bronze sculpture and woven seascape at the front desk to the coastal photographs throughout the hotel.
Downstairs, Drift features a curved wood ceiling and an Atlantic Canadian menu. At Windward Wellness, you’ll find a pool, fresh fruit, cucumber water and a gym bigger than most I’ve seen in a hotel.
In The Watch suite, I spotted a book about the wild horses of Sable Island. Muir also offers guided helicopter expeditions to the island!
In summer, guests can take to the harbour aboard the hotel’s private yacht. And did I mention there’s a speakeasy?
If you’re visiting Halifax, this is an experience worth having. I’d recommend staying a couple of days to take it all in and enjoy everything Muir has to offer.
