The geese at Sullivan's Pond in Dartmouth are sort of local celebrities around here. They stop traffic by crossing the street whenever they want, frequently using the crosswalk (believe it or not). And they have been known to give a menacing squawk so we always give them their space. But this spring, they have captivated all our hearts. I don't think we have to explain why, we'll just let Photographer Jeffrey Schade's photos show you.

If you're in downtown Halifax, you can visit Sullivan's by taking a short ferry ride across to Dartmouth and walking straight up Ochterloney St. until you see the pond. But sure to give our feathered friends lots of space. And stay awhile exploring the Downtown Dartmouth. There are cafes, restaurants and shops to make the visit complete.

Another lobster season is coming to a close in the Lobster Capital of Canada.

From early mornings on the water to traps hauled in through wind, cold, and salt spray, lobster fishing is more than an industry here, it’s part of who we are. It shapes our communities, our culture, and life along the coast.

As we move from lobster season into summer, we’re getting ready to shell’ebrate everything this season represents during Lobster Festival. From the hardworking people behind the industry to the traditions, food, music, and community spirit that make this place special, it’s all worth celebrating.

Take a moment to watch this video showcasing the people, places, and pride behind the Lobster Capital of Canada. ❤️🦞

Today the Royal Canadian Navy recommissioned HMCS Sackville K181 in a ceremony to formally honour the history and service of the last surviving corvette of the Battle of the Atlantic.

"For veterans, families, and all those who believe Canada’s naval history deserves to be remembered, it was a meaningful and long-overdue moment. After more than 85 years, HMCS Sackville still had one more commission left in the tank."

Visitors can step aboard this summer beginning June 26, docked beside the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
