September has entered the harbour. 🚢🍂

This might be one of my favourite months of the Halifax cruise season because the variety is wild. We have giant mainstream ships, tiny expedition ships, ultra-luxury ships, adults-only cruising, familiar favourites and a few ships I’m VERY excited to see for the first time.

There are 58 scheduled ship arrivals this month!

August was such a fun month with lots of visitors:

🚢 18 cruise ship calls
đź‘‹ Up to 46,465 cruise guests
🛳️ 7 different ships
🌊 4 cruise lines

We had everything from the 998-guest Viking Vela to the 154,000+ GT Independence of the Seas rolling into the harbour.

Breakaway, Jewel and Volendam each visited FOUR times!

The only August statistics I couldn’t find:
🦞 Lobster rolls consumed

And September? The schedule is SO exciting!

If you’re around the Halifax waterfront on Tuesdays, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve seen Norwegian Breakaway hanging out at our port.

But back in May, I actually got to cruise on her

A few Ship facts:
🚢 ~145,655 gross tons
đź“Ź 1,068 feet long
đź‘Ą Around 4,000 guests at double occupancy

But let’s get to the actually important information…

🎳 There’s a bowling alley
🎬 A movie theatre
⬆️ An escalator!!
🧊 An actual Ice Bar where everything is basically frozen
🦞 AND my personal hidden-gem favourite: Palomar’s speciality lunch

Palomar is normally one of Breakaway’s speciality dinner restaurants, but on select days they offer lunch… and I had one of the BEST lobster rolls I’ve ever had there (all gluten free I should add!)

So next Tuesday when you see Breakaway sitting in Halifax, just know there’s a whole little world happening inside that ship!

Quantum of the Seas from Brisbane, sailing to Vanuatu and New Caledonia?! Turquoise water, tropical islands and a cruise ship with bumper cars onboard… say less!

We have a newbie around here… meet the Viking Vela!

She had her inaugural visit to Halifax at the beginning of August, and I got to see her leave after her second visit!

Fun fact the Vela is hydrogen ready.. it can be retrofitted to support a new system in the future 🤓

We had lunch at The Bicycle Thief earlier this week and it was so busy! When cruise ships are in, the waterfront area can get very busy, and I don’t want you to miss out on delicious food! Make a reservation!
