We just wrapped up our trips to the Fox Islands off the shores of Killarney Provincial Park.

The Killarney Coastal Islands Instructional Tour explored and journeyed: quartzite ridges dropping straight into the water, granite islands as slippery as water slides for lunch stops 😅 and channels opening and closing as we worked through the archipelago.

The Fox Island Level 2 camped the whole week and came away with two certifications: Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 2 and ORCKA Coastal Kayaking Level 1. Conditions were variable, which is the polite way of saying they got a bit of everything. That is the best thing that can happen on a Level 2.

Congratulations to everyone who paddled, camped, and made the trip memorable.

Next up: the Big Water Gathering, September 3 to 6 on the Saugeen Peninsula. Sixteen paddlers max, camping included. We may even still have a spot if you check the website.

An update from our sister company.

We're behind on updates. What an August it was.

A sold out current clinic. L1s ran back to back in Hamilton, Guelph, and Lion's Head, with rolling clinics filling the gaps. We also ran three sold out Level 2s and a full kayak tripping L1 instructional tour to the Fox Islands. Over 75 students in courses this month.

On the Atlantic side, Kayak Maritimes was busy at Norse Cove with Level 1s and 2s.

SeptemberI is going to be just as exciting kicking off with the return of the Big Water Gathering.

We are thrilled to announce something we have been working on for quite some time.
We did not rush this one out. We wanted to get it right.

A long term progression for all women looking for a supportive space in sea kayaking. We know it can be intimidating. We know the gear can be frustrating. We wanted to build somewhere you can work together, learn, and grow as a team of peers. A place to be welcome and be yourself.
Six weekends, June to January, coached start to finish by the women of Kayak Ontario. Saugeen Peninsula for the foundations, Niagara for current and cold water, pool sessions through the winter. Camping included. Paddle Canada Level 2 and ORCKA Coastal Kayaking Level 1 on completion.

You get asked before anyone touches your boat. You get technique built for the body you have, refined by women coaches. You get a group where you already belong.

Big Water Gathering is built around the paddling.

You pick your comfort level each morning, we read the conditions, and we drive to the best water on the peninsula for that day. Lion's Head, Dyer's Bay, Cape Croker, Tobermory. That is the whole reason we base this on the Bruce.

Six coaches. Sixteen paddlers.

We bring Valley sea kayaks, Werner paddles and Nookie kit. So if you do not own a full setup yet, that is not a reason to stay home. Turn up, get in an amazing sea kayak, and have some fun in a beautiful place.

Four days in some of the most spectacular places you can imagine.

Sept 3 to 6, Tobermory. Level 1 and up.
