𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺: The very first Sasquatch Days took place on May 23 & 24, 1938, drawing over 2,000 First Nations people from across Canada and the United States.

𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘺: Be part of living history as you join us on the shores of Harrison Lake in Harrison Hot Springs, the traditional territory of Sts’ailes People on the ancient village site of Qwólts.

NATIONAL SASQUATCH DAY. 👣

Did you know that the Harrison River Valley is also known as Sasquatch Country?

The name “Sasquatch” is believed to come from the Sts’ailes word Sasq’ets, meaning “hairy man”, a spiritual being said to move between worlds, which might explain why sightings are so rare.

Start your search at the Harrison Sasquatch Museum, located inside the Visitor Centre, open daily with free admission. You’ll find witness accounts, artifacts, local lore, and powerful cultural stories, including the Sts’ailes longhouse exhibit and carvings that bring the legend to life.

Described as a towering, bi-pedal figure, sometimes up to 14 feet tall, with reddish hair and immense strength, the Sasquatch has been part of local First Nations oral history for generations. From the caves of Mystery Valley to sightings as recent as the 2000s.

LOOK UP, STAY GROUNDED. Spring means the skies come alive, offering some of the best birding of the year.

Along the sandy shores of Harrison Lake and throughout the Harrison River Valley, you might catch kinglets, chickadees, brown creepers, spotted towhees, and the red crossbill.

From late February and on, Great Blue Herons return to their nesting grounds and remain until late July.⁠ One particular nesting site that offers amazing views of the birds is the , located a short drive from the Harrison River Valley. The centre is open seasonally.

Bring a pair of binoculars, dress in layers and see what you can spot 🐦
