Where the Harrison River meets the mighty Fraser, something incredible happens.

๐‘บ๐’Ž๐’‚๐’๐’ ๐’ƒ๐’–๐’• ๐‘ด๐’Š๐’ˆ๐’‰๐’•๐’š: While the Harrison River is geographically short at only 18 kilometres long, it is hydrologically massive. It carries an immense volume of water, making it the second-largest tributary to the Fraser River.

๐‘ช๐’‚๐’๐’‚๐’…๐’‚โ€™๐’” ๐‘ญ๐’Š๐’“๐’”๐’•: Its clean, abundant waters support all five species of Pacific salmon, earning it the distinction of being Canadaโ€™s first certified Salmon Stronghold.

๐‘ฏ๐’๐’Ž๐’† ๐’๐’‡ ๐‘ฎ๐’Š๐’‚๐’๐’•๐’”: It is home to North Americaโ€™s largest freshwater fish, the legendary white sturgeon. These living fossils have existed for more than 175 million years.

๐‘พ๐’Š๐’๐’…๐’๐’Š๐’‡๐’† ๐‘ฏ๐’‚๐’—๐’†๐’: This dynamic ecosystem attracts bald eagles, trumpeter swans, and countless other wildlife species.

Every fall, these waters come alive as millions of salmon return home to spawn. On World Rivers Day, we celebrate these incredible rivers, along with the wildlife, communities, and cultures that have been deeply connected to them for generations.
