🌲☀️ Happy Labour Day Weekend from Visit Houston BC! ☀️🌲
The long weekend is here, and it’s a perfect time to get outside and enjoy a little more of summer in Houston.
Hit a trail, cast a line, explore the backroads, enjoy a picnic, or simply slow down and take in the fresh northern air. However you spend your weekend, we hope it includes good company, great views, and a little adventure.
Please note that the Houston Visitor Centre will be closed for the Labour Day weekend and will reopen for regular hours on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Travel safe, respect the places you visit, and enjoy everything Houston has to offer.

Where did summer go? ☀️

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of August. What an amazing summer it has been here in Houston!

We have loved welcoming so many visitors from across Canada and around the world. Whether you stopped in for travel tips, local recommendations, a map, or just a friendly hello, thank you for making the Houston Visitor Centre part of your journey.

This weekend will be our last weekend open 7 days a week for the season.

Starting Monday, August 31, we will return to our regular Monday to Friday hours.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, explored our community, supported local businesses, and discovered a little more of what makes Houston such a special place to visit.

Summer may be winding down, but there is still plenty to see, do, and explore in Houston as we head into fall. 🍂

Upon recommendations from BC Wildfire Service, the Evacuation Alert issued on August 26, 2026 at 1100 hours by the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has been rescinded in its entirety.

Be aware that the Wildfire situation can change at any time.

Upon recommendations from BC Wildfire Service, an Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako due to a wildfire.
Because of the danger to life and health, the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an Evacuation Alert for Wildfire G41970, for all lands and properties located south of Tatin Lake, and north of Highway 16 and Savory Road, west of Tatin Creek and Sutherland Trout FSR, and east of Bomberger FSR, including all homes north of Highway 16 in Endako.

We’re excited to welcome campers back to the newly renovated By-Mac Campground beginning Monday, August 24!

BY-MAC CAMPGROUND – MONDAY, AUGUST 24! 🏕️

We’re excited to welcome campers back to the newly renovated By-Mac Campground beginning Monday, August 24!

A lot of work has gone into improving the campground, and while a few pieces of the project are still underway, we’re ready to open the gates and welcome the community back. Public access to the By-Mac boat launch is also now available.

The renovated campground now features:

24 campsites
A new gazebo and gathering area
New 30-amp and 15-amp electrical service (currently being completed)
New washroom and shower facilities (currently being completed)

Please note: Water and electrical service are not yet available at the campground. Work will continue after the campground opens, and we’ll provide updates as new amenities become available.

Whether you’re coming out to camp or simply looking to access the boat launch, we’re excited to welcome the community back to By-Mac!

Thank you for your patience while we continue working to make By-Mac Campground an even better place to camp, gather and enjoy the outdoors! 🌲

NOTICE: Access to Old Man Lake Park will be restricted for the next couple of weeks as a new bridge gets installed. We've worked with BC Parks and BC Timber Sales to bring some interesting upgrades to this park and can't wait to see it all when it's done!
