Happy Nunavut Day! Here's some data from the survey project that we work on in partnership with Statistics Canada. Every summer, students are hired to work in visitor centres across the territory including Unikkaarvik. Working both in the centres and conducting these surveys. Big shout out and thanks to them. Qujannamiik!

It’s Day! From July to September 2025, non-Nunavut residents took 22,800 trips to Nunavut. More than two-thirds of visitors arrived by air, while the rest made the journey by cruise ship.

The Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre is open on Saturdays again! Starting tomorrow March 7th from 9am - 4pm and closed at lunch.

Tonight! At Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre, we are happy to host the Iqaluit Centennial Library who are inviting you to join Gwynne Dyer, an internationally renowned historian and independent journalist, for a public discussion on the topic: Climate Change and the North.

Dyer has worked as a freelance journalist, broadcaster and lecturer on international affairs. He has been published by over 175 papers in over 45 countries.

The public discussion will take place on:

Here is the late Ernie Coombs, television’s Mr. Dressup, when he visited Iqaluit in the early 1990s and stopped in the Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre.
