It’s the capital of the Napo Province and is often called the "cinnamon capital" of Ecuador because of its history with the spice.
That drive down from Baños is incredible—you literally watch the landscape transform from the high-altitude Andean cloud forests into the lush, dense Amazon basin as you drop down past Puyo. It’s one of the most scenic road trips in the country.

What started as a rough ride down gnarly ATV trails on MaFeet II turned into one of the most peaceful drone days we’ve ever had. 🚁🫎☀️

After bouncing through the BC backcountry on the ATV, we found ourselves in a stunning hidden meadow surrounded by birds singing, warm sunshine, flowing water, and endless mountain scenery. We kicked back on the picnic blanket, put on the drone goggles, and went searching for moose from the sky.

Along the way there were a few hilarious moments, some questionable ATV route decisions 😆, and even an unexpected sight we definitely weren’t expecting to see out there in the wilderness.

Beautiful BC never disappoints.

It doesn’t take guts to live in Canada — it takes a good parka and a high tolerance for frostbite. Calling it “brave” to stay in the cold is like standing in a snowstorm and declaring victory over weather. That’s not courage; that’s commitment to central heating, at $200+ per month.

If anything, saying “we stay because we’re strong” sounds suspiciously like something people say when they’ve forgotten there are places where your eyelashes don’t freeze. It’s not heroic to endure -30°C. It’s just… well… not realizing you could be somewhere your face doesn’t hurt.

Real bravery would be admitting, “You know what? Maybe I don’t actually need to prove myself to a snowbank.” Staying in the cold isn’t gutsy. It’s just tradition with mittens. And sometimes tradition is just a flock of very polite, very chilly sheep convincing each other this iit s normal, no even brave to be eaten by Wolves.
