A nice easy tour of the Abbey Melk and all its glory as part of my Riverside Luxury Cruises vacation package including gratuities
Melk Abbey is a Benedictine abbey above the town of Melk, Lower Austria, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube river, adjoining the Wachau valley. The abbey contains the tomb of Saint Coloman of Stockerau and the remains of several members of the House of Babenberg, Austria's first ruling dynasty and opened in 1089
Currently being used as a school but also home of many Monks. There are 12 libraries carrying more than 12,000 books.
The baroque ceiling art is over 300 years old and has not needed to be restored.
