He kept walking closer, stopping, staring, backing up, then trying again.

💜🌿 Silky Lupine hanging on through a very dry spring here in the Okanagan.

Normally this whole area of the farm is covered in lupines, but this year there are only a few scattered plants left flowering. We’ve gone nearly a month with almost no real rain, and many wildflowers are already drying up early.

I left a few of these untouched to show how stressed the plants are becoming, while some of the flowers closer to the cat house that have been getting watered are still thriving and attracting bumblebees every day. 🐝

Amazing how quickly nature responds to even a little moisture.

Hoping we get some real rain soon. The valley is getting thirsty.

Went for a hike up Angel Springs trail in Kelowna. About halfway up there is a seasonal wetland. Usually you can hear the sound of frogs croaking away maybe see a deer or moose. This year May 5, 2026 the entire wetland usually under 1 foot of water is dry. A few little muddy spots in the corner. I saw a couple snakes. Very sad sight to see.

Went for a hike yesterday, January 31 along the Mission Park Greenway.
We parked at the Ziprick road parking lot, crossed the bridge, and went upstream. Very nice 45 minute walk each way, a little muddy. I saw one group of people that was all.

One week ago I picked these Japanese Red Pine pinecones while they were still tightly closed. I brought them inside and left them at room temperature. A week later, they’ve naturally opened and revealed healthy seeds. Looking forward to starting some in the spring 🌲

Went for a hike yesterday up Mill Creek. Still nice and green for November 3. The water is getting quite low, the lowest I’ve ever seen it. I hope you enjoy the video like our page. Check out our other videos and pictures and if you’d like to see this waterfall for yourself send me a message.

We have about 100 hives where I live and those little guys they need freshwater. I find putting out a pile of paper towel and putting water all over it. They seem to love it. They do so much for us. We should do so much for them

Say hi to the California Quail family
Out for there morning walk.
I throw out peanuts and sunflower seeds and they love it. All birds do. Sometimes you get some wild sunflower plants too.

Went for a drive to Grindrod today for a couple cat grass plants for my two girls.
Went to the Shuswap River, there is a nice park, and saw lots of little fish.
