This one is a nice stack: cheap nonstop Kelowna–Vancouver flights wrapped around a solid Bangkok deal with one stop. The only catch is the return lands into Vancouver late, so plan an overnight in Vancouver and fly home the next day.

Late April in Bangkok is hot and buzzing. Night markets and rooftop patios hit different when it’s 30°C at 9 PM, and you’ll usually find good-value hotels before peak summer rains. Apparently the south is a little cooler at that time of year. I think April is past burning season too.

🚨 YLW to Johannesburg for ~CA$900

This one’s sneaky good value for Southern Africa. Dates in Jan and Feb.

First, take a cheap WestJet flight to Vancouver, then undertake a long-haul British Airways fare to Johannesburg. 

No joke, these flights are LONG, and will test your travelling patience, but very affordable for this distance.

To get this price, you need to book seperate tickets:

Breakdown:
• YLW–YVR roundtrip (WestJet Ultrabasic): ~CA$133
• YVR–JNB roundtrip (British Airways / American): CA$767
➡️ Total: ~CA$900 roundtrip

✈️ Kelowna to Dubai with an optional stopover in Istanbul for $957 🇦🇪 

Here is a cheaper way to get to Dubai. It combines separate ticket purchases. One with WestJet, and another with Turkish Airlines. 

You can even add an optional stopover in Istanbul if you play with the dates. This deal is available across many date combinations, in March, April, and May.

$957 would be good price to Istanbul. So getting to travel all the way to Dubai (a 5 hour flight on its own) is a real bargain. Typical price for this itinerary would be closer to $1400-$1600.

Outbound flight:

Thursday, April 3. 

Kelowna to Vancouver with WestJet. 
Departure: 8:55 AM, Arrival: 10:03 AM. 

**This is an 8 hour layover. Even though it is long, it gives you options/time in the event of a cancelled flight or delay. (Just ask me about my Iceland flight)

Vancouver to Dubai with Turkish Airlines. 
Departure: 7:00 PM, Arrival: 12:20 AM (+2). 
Total travel time: 18 hours and 20 minutes. 
Layover: 1 hour and 50 minutes in Istanbul.

Thursday, April 17. 

Dubai to Vancouver with Turkish Airlines. 
Departure: 7:55 AM, Arrival: 5:05 PM. 
Total travel time: 20 hours and 10 minutes.

I spotted this 10-day itinerary from Kelowna (YLW) to Reykjavik (KEF) with WestJet for just CA$665 round trip (Ultrabasic Fare) on the specific dates listed below. There are some other dates available for approx $700.

Late May is a great time to explore Iceland’s natural wonders, when the days are long (~20hrs) and the landscapes are alive. Late May is also the start of Iceland’s puffin season. And 10 days is enough time to allow you to drive the famous ‘Ring Road’ and explore some sights off the beaten path.

This is not the cheapest I’ve seen this route, but it’s decent. Last year, the price dropped to just $583 for dates in July and August, so this price is only $82 more, per person. I would be willing to bet that we’ll see more cheap flights in the coming months, so stay patient if these dates don’t work for you.
