On our trip in Madagascar, we visited the Allee des Baobab near Morondava. There's something a little surreal about this place - the baobab trees are quite bizarre and very picturesque. In the small town of Sideman, the peaceful morning light brightens the rice terraces on this homestead. We spent a couple of enjoyable nights in this little Balinese village touring the countryside. At the foot of Mt Agung, this village just feels very authentic and the masses of tourists have not yet found this gem. The many shades of green that encompass this area are absolutely beautiful.

On our journey around Bali, our driver took us to Pura Besakih. I'm not sure why I hadn't heard about Bali's largest and holiest of all Hindu temples, but it was all a surprise to me. Located on the slopes of the large volcano Gunung Agung, it is comprised of 23 separate but related temples. Touring around in the fog added a mysteriousness to the whole experience. An essential sight to visit to learn about Balinese religion and culture.

I think someone is in Love!! We visited the Mason Elephant Lodge near Ubud in Bali and it was a great experience. The elephants are all rescued from Sumatra and seem to be very well treated at the Lodge as the nurse them back to good health. This was Lorraine's first experience with elephants and she loved feeding them and being close with them. I think it was her favourite day.

Shopping for fruits and vegetables before our cooking course in Ubud, Bali. This local lady had a lot of character in her face. Probably a hard life. Rambutans, mangosteens, mangos, and more. Www.livingfreerange.co

The Hindu culture in Bali put out offerings every morning to the Gods. This is a little shop in the market where she is creating and selling these offerings. So bright and colourful.

Late lunch on a beach during our Bali Experience trip. This is Melasti beach near Uluwatu and there were very few people there. We enjoyed a fantastic mie goreng while sitting in beanbag chairs under the umbrellas. A very relaxing late afternoon meal. On the trip we spent 3 nights in Uluwatu area, touring around the amazing beaches and temples. Lorraine CB Sandra Margolese
