An iconic moment in Kingston's history, hard to believe it was ten years ago! Remembered joyfully by Downtown Kingston with activations and celebrations all throughout the city today and into the weekend.

10 years ago today, The Tragically Hip played their final show right here in their hometown of Kingston.

To honour and celebrate this pivotal moment in Kingston and Canadian music history, the city will be filled with art installations, walking tours, events, and local business offers all summer and fall.

This weekend, Springer Market Square will be packed with can't-miss events:

Thu, Aug. 20 | 7 p.m.
Join Rockin' the Square with Choir! Choir! Choir!, sponsored by Empire Life, for the ultimate Forever Hip singalong, where the crowd becomes the choir, and every voice is welcome. The night also features live tributes from Miss Emily, The Abrams, and members of Kasador.

Fri, Aug. 21 | 1-5 p.m.
Enjoy an afternoon in Springer Market Square with screenings of concert videos, guided Music Walking Tours, and a local music merch market.

Fri, Aug. 21 | 8 p.m.
Settle in for a free screening of Long Time Running (2017), the documentary following The Hip's emotional final Man Machine Poem tour in 2016.

Sat, Aug. 22 | 7 p.m.
Relive one of Canada's most unforgettable musical moments at a community watch party of the CBC rebroadcast of The Hip's final concert.

These events are rain or shine, so bring everything you need for outdoor fun, including hats, sunscreen, umbrellas, and water bottles.

Enjoy a live demonstration in the heart of Downtown Kingston at 1pm on Wednesdays until September 2nd, as the fort gears up for their Sunset Ceremony happening tonight from 7:00-8:30 pm.

Take a step back in time with the Fort Henry Guard in Market Square for ! 💂‍♂️

On Wednesdays until September 2, the Fort Henry Guard hops aboard a trolley (at Hop-On Hop-Off stop #2) and heads to Market Square (stop #3) to present Fort Flash, a live preview of the drills and traditions featured in Sunset Ceremonies. 💥🥁🇬🇧

Catch the action downtown, then head to Fort Henry that evening to experience the full Sunset Ceremony!
