I don’t post as often as I should, but it’s for a good reason!

You all keep sending me your medals, which means I’ve been working later than ever lately. Don’t worry though, it’s a good problem to have! Some might say I’m a victim of my own success. I’ll stay humble and simply say thank you to all of you for trusting me with your medals and for keeping me so busy with such beautiful sets to mount and remount.

Here’s the latest one I completed: a Star of Courage. We don’t see this decoration very often, so it was a real privilege to work on it.
Have a great evening! 🎖

Proud to "open a branch" in Yellowknife, John G leather will now add to his service Court Medals Mounting, we took time to build this up last fall and now its open and running! Please go click the like button on his page!

We now serve:

-Canex Kingston,
-Canex Trenton,
-Canex St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu
-Yellowknife through John G Leather.

Cheers!!!

After many months of preparation—from spreading the word to gauge interest and feasibility—I am pleased to announce that I will now be offering court mounting services in my shop, for military, first responders members, and all who might have received medals and decorations, effective immediately.

After many discussions and hands-on training with my friend Pat at Montage de médailles Patrick Lachance Medal Mounting, who has been mounting medals for over 15 years, we have officially joined forces to offer the same trusted standard of quality here in Yellowknife.

This new service will fill the lack of mounting in town and I am proud to be able to serve members who request it. Rest assured, this addition will not significantly impact my regular leather workload, which will remain my primary focus as I move forward.

Thank you for the continued support.

Thank you everyone for your patience during this busy time. Since two month, over 180 kits were court mounted. On time for remembrance day.

Below is a WW2 medals kit with Air crew star and France and Germany clasp. Added the Bomber command bar since the gentleman was part of a team that did alot of flight missions. Thanks to Canadian Veterans: Owed or Missing Medals for sorting this one out!

Client brought me alot of things, including the flight log book, it is really impressive to go through.

Cheers!

🏆 The Queen’s Medal for Champion Shot – A Long-Awaited Honour 🏆

Each year, two Queen’s Medals for Champion Shot are awarded in Canada — one to the Regular Force and one to the Reserve Force. However, between 2003 and 2007, the Regular Force medal was not awarded, while the Reserve continued to receive theirs.

The reasons remain debated: some say the Canadian Forces Small Arms Concentration (CFSAC) did not officially hold the competition during that period, while others believe the Canadian Armed Forces’ operational focus on Afghanistan limited participation. Traditionally, this medal is presented immediately following the competition on the range, honouring Canada’s top marksman.

With the support of Canadian Veterans: Owed or Missing Medals, MWO Surette was finally able to claim the medal he earned 20 years ago but never received. MWO Surette was the winner of the 2005 Regular Force competition, a title that deserved its rightful recognition.

In an emotional and historic moment, the medal was presented by his father — himself a six-time recipient of the Queen’s Medal for Champion Shot.

I had previously court-mounted this medal when it was still chromed, but the redesigned version shows an incredible level of detail and craftsmanship — a fitting tribute to such a remarkable achievement.

Congratulations, MWO Surette — this honour is truly well-deserved! 🎖🇨🇦

People will start noticing some exciting changes to the SSM! The new version now features the King’s Crown and cypher on the back, marking a new era in its design.

The medal itself is now crafted in a matte metal finish instead of polished, giving it a more refined and distinguished look.

While the face remains the same, the maple leaf’s surrounding leaves have been completely redrawn with a beautiful brushed matte texture.

Addition!!! Name of the member is engraved on the rim!!

✨ Quite the change indeed! ✨

Medal Mounting Cut-Off Date – 10 October

Dear clients, friends, and co-workers,

This year has been incredibly busy, and we are now entering the busiest time of the season.

For this reason, I must set a cut-off date of 10 October. Please note that any medals received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be ready in time for Remembrance Day.

I also want to sincerely thank everyone for the many referrals I’ve received from people on base and beyond — your trust and support mean a lot to me. Having too much work is truly a great problem to have!
