Yesterday, Kingston Accommodation Partners organized and led its second Hill Day, alongside Visit Kingston, Downtown Kingston, Invest Kingston, and the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce.

Advocating as one unified voice, the five organizations met with the Office of the Minister of Transport, Public Works and Procurement (PSPC), Mark Gerretsen, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, and the Office of the Minister of Public Safety to advance priorities related to transportation and infrastructure vitality in Kingston. Key topics included advocating for Kingston to be included as a stop in high-speed rail proposals, securing a dynamic solution for the LaSalle Causeway, and the need to establish a long-term plan for the management and preservation of Kingston Penitentiary.

As a collective voice for Kingston, our organizations are committed to continued collaboration and advocacy to ensure that Kingston remains a thriving, accessible, and competitive destination.

Tourism does more for Kingston than you might think. Here are seven ways that tourism supports the city we love.

1. Tourism is a significant economic driver, generating $775 million for the local economy in 2024.

2. Tourism supports local artists and artisans, giving them platforms to gain exposure and grow their craft.

3. Tourism fosters civic pride, strengthening Kingston’s reputation as a place people are proud to call home.

4. Tourism supports year-round investments in facilities and infrastructure that serve both residents and visitors.

5. Tourism gives back to the community in meaningful, organized ways – supporting causes like food waste prevention and initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion.

6. Tourism accounts for 1 in 10 local jobs.

7. Tourism supports the independent businesses that give Kingston its character – bringing customers through the doors of local restaurants, shops, and neighbourhood favourites.

Thank you, Profile Kingston, for helping us communicate the tourism industry's impact in our local community.

Kingston's food scene just got a little more connected! 🍽️ ✨

We’re proud to introduce the Kingston Culinary Association (KCA), a new industry-led organization incubated under Kingston Accommodation Partners (KAP), dedicated to supporting and advancing Kingston’s vibrant culinary sector. Guided by a vision of Kingston as a nationally recognized culinary destination, KCA represents an exciting new chapter for the city’s food community. Through advocacy, partnerships, events, and industry initiatives, KCA aims to create meaningful opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and long-term sector growth.

KCA’s founding Managing Director, Katie Ardington brings a breadth of experience and vision to the association. Katie’s love for the kitchen began at 13, washing dishes in her hometown of Brockville, Ontario. She built her career with the Beckta Restaurant Group, rising from the line to become Chef de Cuisine at both Play Food & Wine and Beckta Dining & Wine. In 2016, Katie was honoured to serve as Chef at 24 Sussex Drive, cooking for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. She returned to Beckta as Executive Chef in 2018, leading multiple award-winning restaurants while mentoring and supporting the next generation of culinary professionals. Recognized as one of the Ontario Hostelry Institute’s Top 30 Under 30 in 2010, Katie is known for her thoughtful leadership, respect for craft, and genuine care for the people who bring hospitality to life.

Now a chef, professor, and MBA candidate in Hospitality and Tourism, Katie brings both industry depth and a forward-looking perspective to KCA, as well as a passion for building a stronger, more connected hospitality community. Katie is excited to help shape a vibrant future for Kingston’s food scene, elevating the region as a destination while championing the creativity, resilience, and talent that define its hospitality sector.

Please join us in welcoming Katie as Managing Director! We can’t wait to share more in the months ahead.
