Sunshine, fresh air, a refreshing river dip, and plenty of learning along the way. ☀️🌊

A day of learning, exploring, and building confidence through wildlife safety, trail awareness, hiking basics, and outdoor survival.

We wanted to send a huge NWAS thank you to Women in the Wilderness. This guided hiking group recently did a trip near Smithers and asked the participants to donate to NWAS Instead of paying their registration fees. What a cool thing to do! All of the Animals and Humans of NWAS really appreciate your support.

And then there were 5!
We had a lot of last minute cancellations for multiple reasons and the weather, but we had 3 girls who still wanted to push through! These tough women got suited up in their rain gear and hiked through the wet bush in the pouring rain 🌧️
With good vibes and doing our best to manifest the weather clearing up, we cleared the trees and made it to the ridge only to be greeted by snow flurries ❄️
We laughed it off, took in the minimal views, had some snacks, and headed back down! Not every hike is going to be the best weather, despite what the black cat tells you 🐈‍⬛ but that makes the sunny hikes SO much better!!
Let’s hope we can have some sunnier hikes the rest of the summer! Thanks to the soggy bottom crew for all the laughs ☔️
