WOW, I remember making a few canisters with labels for people that asked but had forgotten about this one. Me at age 19, crazy that I’ve been making my living as a potter since I was that age. WOW ❤️❤️❤️🦊

I hosted a Gratitude dinner party recently as I wanted to thank some of the many people that help me in myriad ways. Luke Griffin blew us away with amazing food, beautifully plated. This week as I'm throwing I find myself thinking more about how these dishes I'm creating will display the food. Beauty is everywhere ♥️ Angelika McLenan Amy-Louise Brassington

It's a rainy Sunday, the first in a long time. I came down to the creation room to get something and the vibe in the room said, create. I rarely work on a Sunday but I followed the feels and prepared some clay. The calm, focused feeling in the room called for just the right music. I have been slowly coming to know Aliayta Foon-Dancoes music and today I did a search on Spotify to see what she had there. Much to my delight I found an album from 2025, Reverie. It was wonderful to throw to, I think I will listen to it again and throw 4 more bowls. Creating is such sweet beauty ♥️🦊🐩🐕

This collared bowl was placed on the lid of a saggar right in the part of the kiln we referred to as "the sweet spot" called this because it's where the burner flame bounces off the kiln wall and begins circulating through the kiln. Great reduction results are pretty much guaranteed. All that was applied over the terra sigillata was some borax on the flared rim and the interior of the bowl. That shiny black is the sigillata after reduction. ♥️♥️♥️🦊🐕

More treasures from the cone 04 reduction 🔥 😁. I absolutely love the effects I am getting on the exterior of these bowls. All that has been applied is an uneven layer of white terra sigillata over the low fire red clay from The Pottery Supply House. I'm assuming that the orange areas are oxidized whereas the darker spots are reduced. I am using one of the ramen bowls daily and am happy with how it is performing with use. You have to be right on point with the amount of reduction, too much and the clay can become brittle. However, if you get it just right the clay seems stronger and doesn't absorb moisture at all. Needless to say, i am making more bowls to put in the next firing. Sarah Wilson Pottery will have work in the firing as will new studio assistant Jasmine Rose. It's so exciting to learn more about low fire reduction and i can't wait till Legacy-studios is up and running and more island potters can join in the fun. 😊♥️🦊🐩🐕

I gasped when i open the kiln and saw my latest, 'Tribute to Haida Gwaii' waiting there for me. I had sprinkled borax over the orange terra sigillata exterior and am blown away by the results. Cone 04 reduction ⚡️🔥❤️🦊

Happy Friday everyone,
Much going on around here, I'll fill you in a bit. 😁
As soon as I lifted this bowl out of the kiln I knew it would pair beautifully with my Emerald chalice 🤸
The house painting is finished, no more nimble painters on my roof and the garden is feeding me and others well.
I am slowly loading up the kiln to fire our 04 reduction program this Sunday. has something hiding in that big saggar and I have an assortment of tableware and saggar work going in. will be filming the unloading so we can share some of what we are learning with you.
As always, if you want to learn more about my techniques, get my books. Both are fundraisers for my Legacy Project, potters helping potters, it's a good thing!❤️🦊🐕🐩
