Looking for Recommendations

I'm looking for reputable professionals and companies with experience working on off-grid and waterfront properties for a 150 acre property near Bow Lake.

Before moving ahead with any work, I would like someone to do a thorough property vision and site consultation to help identify opportunities, challenges, and priorities for future development.

What I'm hoping to accomplish:

✅ Walk the entire property and assess the land

✅ Identify trees worth preserving for privacy, shade, aesthetics, and long-term value

✅ Identify hazardous, diseased, or problematic trees that should be removed

✅ Brush clearing and general property clean-up

✅ Selective tree removal (not clear-cutting)

✅ Removal or relocation of rocks and obstacles where appropriate

✅ Rough grading and smoothing of usable areas

✅ Evaluate drainage concerns and potential problem areas

✅ Review potential building locations for future structures

✅ Assess possibilities for:

Future bunkies or cabin
Storage buildings
Outdoor gathering areas

✅ Evaluate options for a new or improved access road to the lake that would make transporting materials and equipment easier

✅ Identify any environmental, wetland, grading, or permitting considerations

✅ Develop a phased plan so projects can be completed over time as budget allows

🏡 Looking for Recommendations! 🏡

I'm looking to gather quotes from fair, honest, and reputable contractors/businesses for a thorough property assessment and several potential renovation projects at a property located in Hopetown.

I'd also appreciate someone who is willing to walk the entire property with me, identify any repairs, maintenance items, or future projects that I may be overlooking, and provide professional insight on priorities and options moving forward.

Projects being considered include:

🔨 Removal of existing siding and installation of new siding on the garage

🏠 Complete tear-off of the existing roof, redesign and construction of a new roof system, installation of a metal roof, plus new soffits, fascia, eavestroughs, and downspouts

🏚️ Potential replacement of the garage roof to match the house (or colour matching if replacement isn't necessary)

🚪 Possible removal of the existing front porch and construction of a covered front addition

🧱 Replacement and redesign of the existing retaining wall, exploring different materials and options

🪵 Deck staining

🏗️ Exploring the feasibility of extending the existing garage into a larger insulated space, potentially including a bathroom and additional usable space. This project would require backfilling, retaining wall expansion, and site preparation.

🌳 Assessment and restoration of a mature Macintosh apple tree that has been neglected for many years. Looking for an experienced arborist or fruit tree specialist who can evaluate the tree's health, recommend a long-term recovery plan, and perform any necessary pruning or removal of larger limbs at the appropriate time of year to help preserve the tree if possible.

Burn Risk Status Raised to Level 1 – Fire Ban (Supervised Campfires Only)

Effective June 4, 2026, the Lanark Highlands Fire Service (LHFS) has raised the burn risk status to a Level 1 Fire Ban (Supervised Campfires Only) due to current dry conditions.

The Ministry of Natural Resources' Forest Fire Danger Rating for our region is also elevated.

Under a Level 1 Fire Ban, residents are only permitted to have supervised campfires. Appropriate extinguishing agents must be immediately available at all times.

Brush pile burning, Fireworks and all other forms of open-air burning are prohibited during a Level 1 Fire Ban.

A valid 2026 Burn Permit is required for recreational campfires.

Please note:
• Recreational campfires require a burn permit; however, the permit does not need to be activated.
• From April 1 to October 31, burning is only permitted beginning two hours before sunset and must be completely extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise.
• Campfires must be continuously supervised by a responsible person and extinguished immediately if conditions become unsafe.
