We want to inform you that the opening of the Alexandra Outdoor Pool will be delayed.

Work has been ongoing for several weeks on the pool basin liner. Originally constructed in 1967, the Outdoor Pool has served as a cornerstone of our community for decades. As with many aging facilities, renovations have revealed more extensive structural issues than initially anticipated. These issues only became visible once the old liner and marcite finish were removed.

Our priority is to complete the necessary work properly to ensure the pool continues to be a vibrant hub for the community for many summers to come. Structural repairs are being carried out under the guidance of qualified structural engineers, and the new pool finish will be a durable, spray applied thermoplastic coating. A full code and mechanical review will also be completed to meet all current safety regulations, as the safety of our patrons remains paramount.

We appreciate your patience and ongoing support as we work through this process.

Please note, the opening date is weather-dependent and contingent on the completion of work required. We will continue to share updates as they become available.

AquaFit Impacts: The last Seniors AquaFit class at the LRC’s Aquatic Centre will take place on Thursday, May 29 from 12:15 – 1 p.m. There will be no extension of the indoor class due to the activity-based schedule changing June 3. The AquaFit class being offered at the Alexandra Outdoor Pool is scheduled to begin once the facility opens for the season.

☀️In the meantime, we are pleased to share that the Spray Park, proudly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nisku-Leduc, is still scheduled to open for the season (weather permitting) on Saturday, May 17.☀️
