⚠ TEMPORARY TRAIL CLOSURE: SKYLINE TRAIL ⚠

The Skyline Trail will be temporarily closed to all visitors beginning May 5 to May 15, 2025, to allow for important maintenance work.

After a busy visitor season and a long winter, this beloved trail—the busiest in Cape Breton Highlands National Park—needs a little love.

Parks Canada crews will be on-site to:
🔧 Replace and repair worn steps and boardwalks
🛠️ Improve trail conditions for safety and sustainability

While we care for the trail, we ask that visitors:
✔️ Plan ahead and explore one of the park’s many other stunning trails
✔️ Respect all trail closures for your safety and the safety of our crews
✔️ Practice good trail etiquette—stay on marked paths, carry out all litter, and give wildlife plenty of space.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to protect this iconic part of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We'll share updates on reopening as soon as it's safe to welcome you back.

The US Government requires that all visitors 14 years of age or older who remain in the United States for 30 days or longer must apply for registration and fingerprinting.
