Hermit Crabs! These creatures live in the empty shells of different types of snails. As they grow, the look for a new, empty shell to move into. Finding bigger empty shells can be difficult for the hermit crab. They can be spotted in the tidal pools left behind by the tide as it goes out.

Tuesday Tidal Triavia!

Horse mussels are a bivalve mollusks with dark blue or purplish shells, often covered by a glossy brown periostracum in adults. The shell is roughly oblong. Adults typically exceed 10 cm in length, with some reaching up to 22 cm. Unlike the Blue Mussel, these are not for eating.

Tuesday Tidal Trivia!
These are Barnacles. They can be found in the Bay's intertidal zone anchored to rocks. This is where they breed and lay their eggs in the mud and sand. They are very hardy and can withstand salt water and fresh water. The Bay of Fundy's tides and it's water are full of nutrients, make it a perfect home for these creatures.
