Almost the only spots we have left this year are our early-season Basic Cruising courses.

As we’ve mentioned before, it’s our favorite time—Desolation Sound is especially beautiful then, and you’ll have the whole season ahead to practice what you’ve learned.

Right now, you can also sign up with a 10% discount—what more could you ask for? All upside 😊

And for the third year in a row, we are proud to be part of the “Sailing for All” initiative. We are very happy to once again offer a course to our community on Cortes, and we thank Sail Canada for continuing to create such a wonderful event.

Sail Canada Awards $80,000 in funding to 24 Member Clubs and Schools as part of the “Sailing for All” Initiative ⛵ Voile Canada remet 80 000 $ en financement à 24 clubs et écoles membres dans le cadre de l’initiative « La voile pour tous »

Sail Canada is pleased to announce that 24-member sailing clubs and schools from across the country have been awarded a combined total of $80,750 as part of Sail Canada’s 2026 “Sailing for All” initiative. This funding is courtesy of Sport Canada’s Community Sport for All Initiative.

Launched in December 2023, the “Sailing for All” initiative was created to support grassroots programs delivered by Member Clubs and Schools focused on providing grassroots sailing experiences for individuals from underserved or underrepresented groups, at very low or no cost to participants. The programs are designed to engage participants from one or more of the following communities: Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLFBTQI+, low-income people, persons with a disability, newcomers to Canada, or seniors.

It’s time to look back at the beginning of our last season — May and June.
Although these are already among our favourite months in Desolation Sound, thanks to the very small number of boats around and the frequent moments when we are the only boat in the bay, the 2025 season started exceptionally well.

We met so many wonderful people, some of whom we’ll be meeting again aboard Mariah this year. We enjoyed great winds, watched orcas teaching their young how to hunt, and admired beautiful snow-covered mountain peaks and waterfalls cascading straight into the ocean.

Spring on the water in Desolation Sound is truly incredible!

This year, we still have availability for 5-day courses:
🔹April 27 – May 1
🔹May 11–15
🔹May 15–19

as well as 3-day trips:
🔸May 6–8
🔸May 20–22
🔸June 8–10

One of the highlights of this summer was taking part once again in Sail Canada’s Sailing for All program. We were able to offer our Start Keelboat Sailing course free of charge to six participants. Over four days on our 40-foot Beneteau Oceanis 400 they got to experience sailing in a region known for it, yet still inaccessible to many.

Participants were incredibly grateful, gained confidence, and left with a real interest in sailing. With such strong community response, we hope to offer something similar next year.

Huge thanks to Sail Canada and the Government of Canada for their support!

The simple words of a child, spoken with genuine excitement – ‘It was fun!’ – reminded us of one of the many reasons why we chose to do what we do: to bring joy and a chance to relax in what we believe is the most beautiful place on Earth. Thank you!
