Amazing bioluminescence this week!! The light producing dinoflagellates are a type of plankton that cause the water to glow beneath us through a chemical reaction.

Join us for our FREE COMMUNITY PADDLE DAY at Smelt Bay provincial Park. SATURDAY August 17th 11am-2pm, 2024

Funded through the micro grants by the Cortes Island Community Foundation.

We will explore the coastlines and intertidal of the Sutil Point Reef while learning the basics of kayak skills and maneuvering. If there is interest, some participants can choose to learn wet exits and self rescues!

Join us for our annual Love the Lakes kayak tour with Friends of Cortes Island on Gunflint lake. We will explore the unique ecosystems of Hague and Gunflint lakes, and learn about the ecological, social, and historical significance of the area. This tour is family and beginner friendly! This tour is a fundraiser for Friends of Cortes Island to support their educational programming and ecological stewardship.

On day one of our Ebb and Flow retreat we did an introduction to kayaking, explored the coastlines, saw sea lions, seals and many shore birds. We kayaked to a trail where we could hike in to a remote lake for a swim! In the afternoon we did a grounding and yoga session with Jasmine, followed by an amazing dinner at Hollyhock.

Paddle, laugh, swim, do yoga, and repeat! Stay tuned 🌊🧘🏾🌱
