🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m an overpacker!!! And I usually start packing around a week prior, depending on where I am going.
BUT…there is almost always a ‘pile’ started well before that.

What’s your packing style?

When does the suitcase come out?

🕜 Two weeks before - open on the floor, slowly collecting things.

🕑 Three days before - list made, outfits planned, feeling VERY organized.

🕠 The night before - completely reasonable. No further questions.

🕘 Approximately 45 minutes before leaving for the airport - while yelling “WHERE IS MY PASSPORT?!”

🕗 It never really got put away after the last trip.

But here's the OTHER question...

What KIND of packer are you?

🎒 Carry-on only.
Five days. Seven days. Two weeks. Doesn't matter. You have somehow mastered the dark art of fitting your life into an overhead bin.

BE HONEST.

You just checked into your hotel.

You've got approximately 90 seconds before the room no longer looks like nobody has ever stayed in it.

What's the FIRST thing you do?

🛏️ Pull back the sheets and inspect the bed.

🌅 Run to the window/balcony to see if that “ocean view” you paid extra for actually contains an ocean.

🚿 Check out the bathroom and shower.

🧴 Inspect the little toiletries like you're suddenly a shampoo connoisseur.

❄️ Find the thermostat and immediately make that room YOUR temperature.

📶 Connect to the Wi-Fi before you've even taken your shoes off.

🔌 Locate every electrical outlet because apparently hotels were once designed for people who travelled with one electronic device.

🍫 Check the minibar, see the prices, quietly close the minibar.

🧳 Put your suitcase on the luggage rack and begin the Bedbug Investigation: CSI Hotel Edition.

🚽 Or are you the person who has travelled all day, drops the bags and immediately announces:

“I HAVE TO PEE.”

Everyone has a hotel-room ritual.

Travel Tip — Because “A Few Bucks Here & There” Adds Up to a LOT

That little machine that asks if you'd like to pay in Canadian dollars.

Seems helpful, right?

You recognize the amount. No mental math. No standing at the counter trying to remember whether you divide by 1.67 or multiply by 1.67 while the person behind you silently judges you.

But WAIT before you hit CAD.

There's something called Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) — and it's one of those little travel things that can quietly cost you money when paying with your credit card. So if you chose to pay in CAD in a foreign country, the DCC usually adds high markups and poor exchange rates.

Choose the local currency and leave the conversion to your card network/issuer instead. Your credit card may still charge a foreign transaction fee - that's a separate thing from the merchant's DCC.

ATMs can pull the same trick.

When you book a trip with a travel advisor, how do you want your final travel documents?

📁 GIVE ME THE FOLDER.
Printed documents, everything organized, something I can physically flip through and easily refer back to before my trip so I don’t miss anything important.

📱 SAVE THE TREES.
Email it to me. I’m perfectly happy having everything on my phone.

🤷‍♀️ BOTH.
Because apparently I need the email and the folder to feel like I truly have my life together. 😂 (fun fact, this is ME) Ha.

The joys of booking early! 😂✈️

If you’ve ever wondered why I say that booking early can mean you’ll see a schedule change before your trip… today is one of those days!

WestJet is finalizing flight schedules for upcoming departures, and my inbox is full of schedule change notifications. 📩

Here’s the general rule from WestJet regarding schedule changes:

✈️ Changes within 180 minutes of your original departure time are considered confirmed and, generally, nothing needs to be done. However, if it affects your connection time (like one of my own flights!), we may need to look at alternative options.

✈️ Changes of more than 180 minutes may need to be confirmed or addressed, as sometimes the new schedule they give you just isn’t great. In those cases, we may need to look at different options, depending on the fare and WestJet’s terms and conditions.

And this is where having a travel agent comes in handy! 😉
I’ll be reviewing these changes based on your departure date and will reach out if there is something that needs your attention or if an alternative may be available.

So if you see a WestJet schedule change come through today… don’t immediately start stressing!
