☀️ Beat the Heat at Home with H.E.A.T.
Stay cool, save energy, and stay safe! Here’s how

🪟 H – Hang Curtains
• Block that blazing sun! Use light-colored blackout curtains during the day.
• Try window films or outdoor shades for extra coverage.

💨 E – Enhance Airflow
• Fans are your friends—set ceiling fans counterclockwise to push cool air down.
• Open windows at night to let in the breeze and close them in the morning to lock it in!

🔥 A – Avoid Heat-Producing Appliances
• Skip the oven—BBQ outside or go for cool, no-cook meals.
• Delay laundry and dishes until evening.

❄️ T – Turn on AC Wisely
• Set your thermostat around 25–26°C (78°F) to stay cool without overworking it.
• Portable ACs are great for spot cooling!

💡 BONUS TIPS!
• Put a bowl of ice in front of a fan = DIY chill zone!
• Dehumidifiers make a big difference in muggy air.
• Know where your nearest cooling centers are in case temps get extreme.

Today, the Town of Midland raised the Beausoleil First Nation flag and the Métis Nation of Ontario flag for National Indigenous Peoples Day, which takes place each year on June 21.

Dedicate time on Indigenous Peoples Day to listen, learn, and uplift. In Midland, Indigenous culture is not just part of our past—it’s part of our present. It lives in the land, the language, the stories, and the people we share this space with. 💛
