The Town has raised the flag for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Mayor Bill Gordon has proclaimed September 2026 to be “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” in Midland.

This month we recognize the dedication and hard work of all those scientists, healthcare professionals, parent organizations and volunteers who are working to overcome childhood cancer and assist these families.

The Town of Midland applauds and commends the dedicated volunteers at Candlelighters Simcoe, Parents of Children with Cancer for the work they do for families of children with cancer in our region.

Mayor Bill Gordon has proclaimed August 31, 2026, as “International Overdose Awareness Day” in the Town of Midland, and today the Town raised the flag for International Overdose Awareness Day at Town Hall.

The goal of International Overdose Awareness Day is to build a safe environment for conversations surrounding drug overdose, amplify the access to information on the range of support services that are available and prevent and reduce drug-related harm by supporting evidence-based policy and practice.

TODAY! The CMHA- Simcoe County, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Gilbert Centre and Midland Public Library have coordinated on behalf of the North Simcoe Drug Strategy Group to create an event where our community can join together to remember those we’ve lost, reflect on the ongoing drug toxicity crisis, and strengthen our collective call for justice, compassion, and change.
Join us Monday, August 31, 2026, 1PM to 4PM (Drop-In). Speakers and remembrances start at 1PM.

This event will feature:
A peer-led, interactive memorial project
Harm reduction info and naloxone
Light refreshments and community connection
All are welcome. Whether you come to grieve, connect, or learn, this space is for you.

Midland Public Library is excited to host a Midland municipal election all-candidates meeting, Thursday, October 8, 6:30-9:30 PM at the Bourgeois Community Centre.

Introductory statements and the Q&A period will be moderated.

As the BCC is a public building, no campaign materials are permitted. The event will be live and in-person only.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has requested that a swimming advisory be posted at Pete Pettersen Park Beach. A swimming advisory remains in place at Little Lake Park Beach. 🎨 Calling all artists! 💦

The Town of Midland is seeking digital artwork for a utility box wrap in Little Lake Park, next to the new splashpad.

We're looking for fun, colourful, water-themed designs that celebrate creativity and complement the splashpad space. Artists from Simcoe County, Barrie, and Orillia are eligible to apply.
