I want to thank Mayor and Council of Salisbury for joining us and sharing stories of community at Highland Park last night. I led a group of Connectors with the SERSC Program on a “Nurturing in Nature” experience.

Almost all had never been to the park before which was lovely for me to connect them to the nature community at this beautiful location.

We were fortunate to see maskrats in their native habitat in the marsh, immature and mature bald eagles, great egret, swallows, red winged blackbirds and many more bird species.

Discovering and tasting edible wilds along the way was truly a hit with newcomers. Thank you to all who came out and shared my passion and love for the outdoors.

I was slower than normal and could not go the entire way and I want to thank Vanessa from the Petitcodiac watershed for leading the group to the location of a new rain garden that will be installed this week. Mother Nature cooperated with the best of weather and a light breeze. Until next time 🙂

This is one of my favoured berries not ready yet but later in September !

I make syrup and cordial with these elderberries which are high in vitamin C, good source of fiber and truly support you in the winter season with cold and flu symptoms. These are my go to for overall winter health. I feel a sore throat coming on cordial for 2/3 days takes care of it.

Happy NB Day
As we celebrate this great province we live in- I’m hoping part of it involves being outside and exploring our beautiful landscape. We have so much to offer and truly do live up to the brand of “ the friendly east coasters”.

After a guided group hike last year in Fundy I stopped at a favorite spot of mine in Hillsborough for a soup and sandwich (late supper) I had to wait on the patio as it was busy as it usually is.

A family arrived and had to wait outside to even begin to place an order. I asked if they would like to sit with me - well…. You can imagine where this story goes !’

Over a few hours later and eating supper together we had made a plan for them to visit some amazing places while they were in NB. Of course I had maps and brochures to give them as we parted ways.

When driving home a big smile came across my face as I realized how easy it is to share what we are proud of with others. The entire family was here from Ontario for the first time (to return again and spend more time) and did not know what to expect.

I carry that story with me as a true nature ambassador for our region. Not only on NB day but every day. This is what sets us apart, sharing and loving all the communities we work, live and play in. I could not and do not miss an opportunity to show why I love NB.
