Manhattan Movie Monday: For this week, let's take a look at a thriller; and not a monster/alien/superhero/really big ape type thriller. This weeks movie is Limitless featuring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. A considerably strong movie with an original concept which takes place all through Manhattan. There is one particular scene in which my infamously tiny and articulate girlfriend would express "ewww" but besides that, she thinks the movie is "pretty good". Such a way with words; but she does have good taste in movies. Enjoy this week's New York City Flick!

(Honorary) Manhattan Movie Tuesday: Back in the mood for a Sci-fi action thriller? A pretty successful movie is released on DVD today (by pretty successful, I mean the third highest grossing film of all time): The Avengers!

Manhattan Movie Monday: I'm assuming by now you've watched all 3 King Kong movies and you've had enough of sci-fi action thrillers for a little while (hopefully only for another 17 hours, you'll see why tomorrow). How about a good old romantic comedy? I can almost hear the infamous groans of uninterrested men as I'm typing this. However, this happens to be a very funny movie and has some great shots of New York City. The movie? Serendipidy starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. As a male stand point, this is one of my favorite "Chick Flicks" for it has a good story and even better dialogue (especially between Cusack and co-star Jeremy Piven). For the female readers, it is a cute love story and in the words of my dear tiny girlfrinds: "it's just good" (She is a woman of many words). Anyway, enjoy this weeks film!

Manhattan Movie Monday: Want to get in the mood for visiting the Big Apple? Do you absolutely hate Mondays and you're looking for a distraction from the return of work week? Follow us every week while we name some blockbusting movies that were set in the city that never sleeps.

The honor of the first movie on our list will given to the film that truly put the Empire State Builing on the map: King Kong.

First released in 1933, this ground breaking film left a lasting legacy in cinema and New York forever. Though the movie is nearly 80 years old, the name of enormous primate that terrorised New York City is stilled cemented in pop culture, thanks to 2 remakes (1976 and 2005).

Many are surprised to hear that there are 2 remakes, for which most people solely remember Peter Jackson's version from 7 years ago. A contributing factor to this is the 1976 version has pratically not been seen on television since the 90's. The reason for this is [SPOILER ALERT] in the 1976 version, King Kong climbs the World Trade Center and throws a helicopoter into one of the twin towers. Because of the circumstances of the 9-11 attacks 25 years later, the movie can barely be found today.

Now that you've learned something, you can get off facebook and get back to the pile of e-mails in your inbox. Enjoy!
