Major ‘Detour’ for Rog & I to Canada’s largest port, Vancouver, where we biked 9km of the 22km seawall trail…the part that circumnavigates Stanley Park!

Bring your bike helmets folks but bikes are available 24-7 to rent via the Mobi-Rogers bike share App!

We picked our bike up at the Vancouver Aquarium at Stanley Park…the App navigates you to the closest place to pick up your bike.

This experience was one of my favourites in Vancouver along with lunch at the park cafe!

My only regret is not taking in theatre under the stars at 7pm - playing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Legally Blonde on alternating nights!

For those who are scared to bike in Vancouver…don’t worry! There are no cars adjacent to this trail…and pedestrians have their own walking trail!

Bring your swim suit for a cool dip in one of the many beaches or pool! And if you’re a photog bring your camera and plan to take in the rose garden after lunch or the aquarium! Your bike is equipped with a basket!

Happy trails!

I had the opportunity to visit 2 farms this past week:

1. Hidden Brook Farm in Durham, New Brunswick outside of Fredericton (Capitol City of New Brunswick)

2. The van Geest Farm in Elgin, New Brunswick 🐑

https://monctonbeatsmagazine.ca/sheep-farming-with-moranda-van-geest

Both experiences were unique and special.

Consider the work involved in raising your own live stock and being a mother to so many animals!

My uncle Ernie is in his 80s, still farming beef cattle. 🐮

I’m noticing lately it’s hard to retire from a way of life. I don’t think you ever do.

The fact these lifelong farmers share their farms with city folk remind us of a different way of life.

Both farms use solar panels for energy. The van Geest farm paying only $50/month for power. Independence from the grid and its fluctuating prices and unreliability seems freeing…

This Spring visit a farm! Make sure you wear boots and old clothes!

Spring has sprung! May it be a time of appreciation and renewal for you also!

It’s that time of year to visit your local sugarbush for a pancake breakfast and your year’s supply of maple products! 🍁

It doesn’t get anymore Canadian than this let me tell ya!

Bring at least $20 cash per person if you’re having breakfast! Otherwise a buck or two will buy you taffy on the snow!

Fun for the whole family!

Wear ice cleats…dress warm (bit of a walk)…we used our poles…

$ for buskers playing instruments along the path!

Yesterday, while on our walk at Mapleton Park, Becky Gillcash spotted this different looking duck amongst the mallards. 🦆

I sent this prize winning photograph 🏆 to my new friend I met through WOW, Cathy Smith Simon from Nature Moncton. She suspected it to be a leucistic female mallard duck which was later confirmed in the article linked to below. ⬇️

When you’re out look for something different and please submit your photographs to Nature Moncton. We can all be Dora the Explorers out there helping with conservation efforts!
