Not long ago, I found myself standing in the middle of a corporate event here in New Brunswick, watching something unfold that had absolutely nothing to do with the lighting, the catering, or the agenda.
It was the conversations.
The laughter between colleagues who hadn’t slowed down long enough to connect in months.
The new employee who finally felt like they belonged.
The leadership team seeing their people not just as employees… but as humans.
And it reminded me of something I’ve believed for years:
The best events don’t just fill a room. They strengthen culture, build trust, and create the kind of connection that people carry back into the workplace long after the chairs are stacked.
That’s why community matters in event planning.
Not because it looks good in a strategy deck.
Because when people feel seen, heard, and genuinely included, everything changes.
Engagement changes.
Collaboration changes.
Retention changes.
Even how people talk about your organization changes.
Over the years, I’ve seen that happen by intentionally:
• Bringing in local talent, storytellers, and community voices
• Creating space for real conversation—not just surface-level networking
• Designing moments where people feel heard, valued, and part of something bigger
At the end of the day, people may forget your agenda…
But they will always remember how your event made them feel.
If your organization is planning a conference, team event, AGM, appreciation experience, or community gathering in 2026, what do you want people to walk away feeling?
👇 I’d genuinely love to hear your answer.
