Kuala Lumpur is the most underrated city in Southeast Asia I’ve visited and people don’t give it the time it deserves.

Most people usually treat KL like as a quick stopover, but once you slow down, you realize this city has so much to offer.

You have a mix of cultures, different neighborhoods, beautiful temples, and an amazing food scene. The contrast makes it such an exciting city.

If you’re planning a trip, here’s how to spend 3 days in Kuala Lumpur:

Day 1:
• Petronas Twin Towers + KLCC Park (of course)
• Visit one of the many rooftops for skyline views
• Explore Bukit Bintang area
• Jalan Alor night market for food

Day 2:
• Batu Caves (go early before it gets too busy and too hot)
• Little India
• Thean Hou Temple
• Chinatown + Central Market

Day 3:
• KL Forest Eco Park
• Day trip: Genting Highlands, Ipoh, Putra Mosque
• Slow it down with cafes + spa time + restaurants

When to visit Kuala Lumpur:
March to October is generally best, with less rain. Expect HEAT and HUMIDITY. early mornings and evenings are the best time to explore.

I loved Kuala Lumpur and if you’re only planning one night here… you’re missing out on a lot!

Save this for your Malaysia trip.

Is this place on your bucket list?

It’s a country that has everything I love to see in a country and expect from a trip. Beaches, mountains, ancient cities, history and good vibes!!

It’s a small country but can quickly become a favorite because of how many experiences you can have there.

Is Venice on your bucket list?

IS VENICE WORTH VISITING?
I was hesitant to visit for a long time and never understood the appeal and definitely was scared of the crowds. But I am happy I went.

It’s definitely a unique place and every corner looks like a postcard. It’s simple to explore and you don’t need much planning or a strict itinerary to visit. Getting lost in the alley ways is actually part of the experience.

What’s great about Venice is that it’s a perfect base and start of a European adventure. From here you can reach many amazing destinations easily. Other Italian cities, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland…. The train options are great!

HOW MANY DAYS TO SPEND IN VENICE?
I personally recommend 2 days. If you want to explore outside of the main areas then you can spend a bit more time.

Venice is an awesome to see but also a great starting point for a multi-city trip!

Save this for your summer euro trip and make sure to follow Ellia | Hidden Gems & Adventure Travel for more travel tips and guides.

Is it on your bucket list?

This is one place I need to go back to this summer 😍
There is so much to see and do in Bosnia. But if you are short on time and touring around the Balkans, make sure you add AT LEAST these spots on your itinerary.

HERE IS WHY it’s 100% worth it:

🇧🇦 Within 2 hours from Dubrovnik, you will see a new place where you can appreciate the architecture, the food, the prices😍, and the pace of life.

🇧🇦Mostar looks straight out of a movie. Of course there is the famous The Old Bridge (Stari Most) at the heart of the city. You can watch locals dive into the river, wander the stone streets, visit one of the many cafes and restaurants for some amazing vibes.

🇧🇦Way fewer crowds compared to places like Dubrovnik. You’ll still see other tourists, but definitely less.

🇧🇦It’s significantly cheaper. Coffee, food, souvenirs… everything costs less. You can actually sit, relax, and enjoy without thinking twice about prices.

🇧🇦 Kravica Waterfalls are one of the most underrated sites in my opinion! It’s one of those places that photos don’t do justice. You can spend a morning swimming, relaxing right by the falls.

🇧🇦 This side trip gives you a unique experience of a historic town, a cultural experience and nature/swimming spot, all in a single day. It’s one of the highest “experience-per-day” trips you can do from Dubrovnik.

📍 What you can do in this Bosnia day trip:

Walk across Stari Most
Try cevapi + Bosnian coffee
Shop handmade souvenirs in the bazaar
Swim at Kravica Waterfalls
Relax by the river with a drink

💡 WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Bring your passport (border crossing)
Start early to avoid crowds + delays
Wear good shoes (slippery stones at waterfalls. Watershoes are highly recommended)
Bring cash for small shops

This is a unique day trip that you should add to your bucket list. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of Bosnia.

You want to travel to the Philippines for the first time?

This is the route I recommend:

Manila → El Nido → Bohol → Siquijor.
This route will give you a mix of history, dramatic limestone cliffs, marine life, waterfalls, and slower island days.

Here are things you need to know before you go:

• Best time to visit: November to April which is the dry season on these islands. Other islands have different seasons so make sure you check!
• Domestic flights are a bit pricey but make sure to book in advance! Seats do sell out!!!
Ferries between islands are reliable but weather dependent and delays can happen.
• Bring cash. ATMs are limited on smaller islands.
• Book island hopping tours early, especially in El Nido. Private tours are worth it if you can split the cost.
• Rent a scooter in Bohol and Siquijor — it gives you freedom and saves money.
• Expect slower service and island time. Build flexibility into your schedule.
• Download maps offline and expect internet to be choppy.
• Download Grab - it works well in Manila. And yes, traffic in Manila is serious. Plan around rush hour.
• Tap water is not drinkable.
• You will have amazing fresh seafood
• Filipinos are extremely warm and helpful. Some of the kindest people I’ve encountered and English is widely spoken
• Tipping isn’t mandatory but rounding up or 5–10% is appreciated.
• The Philippines is safe but use common sense like you would in any other travel destination.

The Philippines isn’t polished like some Southeast Asian hubs. That’s part of the charm. It’s raw, scattered, and sometimes chaotic — but the landscapes are some of the best in the world.

Save this for later.
And if you’re planning your Philippines trip, tell me how many days you have — I’ll help you with a good itinerary.

Share with someone who needs to hear this.

If I had listened to those people, I wouldn’t have seen some of the most beautiful places!

Don’t let other people’s fears and misperceptions change your mind and prevent you from what you want to do!

Some people never leave their comfort zone and that’s ok. But that’s just not me!
