It's always been a dream of mine to go out on an open jeep safari and see giraffes and zebras. Yesterday we took an adventure from Gambia to Senegal and our good friend Scooby was our driver/tour guide, showing us the local sites along the way.

We drove to the capital, Banjul, had tapalapa and fried beans for breakfast. Took the ferry for 35d. Jumped on an open top jeep and Modou, our other driver took us to and through the Fathala reserve. Between crossing the boarder into senegal and the reserve, we pulled over on the the road side and security said a lion was on the loose.

The first thing we saw were 7 brooksel greveys zebras feeding together, 5 adults and 2 babies, 2 and 4 months old. Kevin the hippo was hanging with them too. We also saw aardvark, commong hog, roan antelope, western giant lord derby eland, west african forest buffalo, the abyssinian roller, plam nut vulture, long-tailed glossy starling. A lot of trees did have a resemblance of a giraffe or zebra.

We'd missed the last ferry back so took a local boat, 30 of us gathered in and got a refreshing spray from the delicate waves we endured.

We stopped off at 2 local spots for benachin and domoda. Scooby took us to his childhood neighborhood and we joined his friends in playing ludo, chatting about football and listened to music.

When we arrived back to the apartment, the locals were partying with food and music so of course we joined for a dance.

A post dedicated to the love of my life, Katie passed over in April last year and it's time to keep the traveling journey alive. Her spirit lives through me in every moment and her life will remain in every memory she created with all.

In 2013, Katie asked me, 'what would you do if money was no object?' From that moment on, we decided to sell every material possession that we had and set off on our travel venture in 2015. Katie spent the remaining years of her life traveling the world and I had the pleasure of spending those magical moments with her.

Katie lived for travel, adventure, writing and music. She showed that anything is possible and to get up and live for the moment. I share with you, our adventures from around the world 🌎 đŸ’–đŸŒŒđŸ’«

** Théùtre Saint-Denis, Montréal**

Located on Saint Denis Street, this historical theatre really made us feel like we'd stepped into an old French movie.

The theatre was built in 1915 and can be found in the city's Quartier Latin

They have regular live performances such as musicals, plays, music concerts and numerous stand-up comedy shows during the Just for Laughs festival.

** Boutique Eva B, Montréal **

Eva B has long been a Montréal staple, it's a huge three floor thrift store that offer some of the most unique vintage and gently-used clothing from with prices starting at $1.

Eva B also has an amazing in-store vegan-friendly cafe that offer delicious dishes every day such as their famous (and vegan) Chinese dumplings in baskets or flavoursome samosas for only $1 each!

We found so many treasures here and somehow carried them all the way to BC and onto England!

** Saint-Denis, Montréal **

This picture reflects a lot on the blend of new and old architecture in downtown Montréal.

The CHUM, a central hospital in Montréal, was built on the former site of the Holy Trinity Church among other structures.

The church was built in 1865 and is now obliterated, aside from the steeple that lives on.

The church was dismantled stone- by-stone and rebuilt in a cutaway corner of Saint-Denis and Viger Avenue, which serves as one of the hospital's entrances.

Saint-Denis is a wonderful street to explore in Montréal with surprises at every corner.

** Dépanneur, Old Town Montréal **

All of the sineage in Montréal looks exquisitely historical, like stepping back in time to a classic French movie.

Even the shop signs for a convenience store have class of a continental kind, these stores are known as Montréal' Dépanneur.

The Dépanneur is popular with students and they literally sell everything from instant meals to batteries and perhaps most importantly for students and travelers, alcohol.

It's good to know that Montréal has over 10 dépanneurs across the city and they're normally open most days for long hours.

** Mount Royal, Montréal **

We do little to no research when we book a trip to a new destination, and we do this on purpose so to be surprised on arrival and influenced by locals.

So finding out Montréal is named after its famous downtown mini mountain was a pleasant surprise and climbing it was a feat we had to take.

Mount Royal is a large intrusive rock hill or small mountain in the city center, immediately west of the Downtown area.

The naming convention of Montréal is taken from Mount Royal.

It was a moderate hike up many stairs to get to the top and in temperatures of 20 below zero centigrade, we didn't take many pictures at all!

At the top, there is a lovely building with toilets, eateries and souvenir shops as well as a big seating area which is perfect for warming up.

The hike up Mount Royal is definitely one of the top things to do in Montréal.
