Troutin’ Special. In the 1960s, on the Victoria Day long weekend, Newfoundlanders would board the narrow gauge railway in St. John’s and head out for a weekend of trout fishing on the nearby rivers, lakes and ponds, The train, affectionately called the “Newfie Bullet” would stop, on request, to let the fishers off at their favourite fishing hole and pick them up at the end of the weekend. It was a great time of fishing, drinking and companionship.

Titanic submersible diver Larry Daley, will unveil a new RMS Titanic exhibit in downtown St. John's, in May.

It will feature artifacts, iceberg displays, scale Titanic models, and movie props from James Cameron’s 1997 romance-disaster film.

The exhibit is expected to open to the public in mid-May, and will be located underneath the Merchant Tavern on Water Street.

This forthcoming election, is one of the most important in recent history.

In case you are going to be away n Election Day, please consider voting early at any Elections Canada polling office.

Check www.election.ca for the location of the early voting location in your federal riding.

Vote at any one of them by April 22, 6 p.m., bring proper ID.

You will vote using the special ballot process.

The offices will be open seven days a week:

Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.
