A road trip thru The Lakes District took us thru some beautiful areas of the NW of England.
Windermere is a busy sailing hub lake town and the real base of the area.
If u look closely, u will see some dates from both the 13 and 16 century. (See the Roman numerals above the doorway)
Honoring Her Majesty, the flag was respectfully at half mast, as the country is officially in mourning.
Of course we found boats, in both Windermere and Whitehaven.
The drive " o'er the tops" across Corney Fell, took our breath away as the mist lifted for us to glimpse the Irish Sea across the moors covered in heather, grassland and sheep. Absolutely stunning.
We stopped in Coniston, and then made our way to The Forest of Bowland and thru the Trough to conclude our two day adventure.
History and landscape in UK never ceases to amaze.
