Thank you Charles Trimble for ensuring the return. Gitmaxmak’ay took a volcano tour this summer. Charles spoke on behalf of a family from another nation. The family purchased a house in Prince Rupert where lava was used as part of the build previous to their owning the home. The family renovated and had the lava removed. Knowing the significance of the lava being taken, Charles asked if I could work on a plan to have the lava returned to the park.
I asked elders the process for this to happen and we proceeded. We met in Prince Rupert said a prayer and proceeded to carefully load. Today we brought to the park to same space I returned all rocks returned to me over the years. We said a prayer and thanked the families involved. I placed a cedar cross to mark the space. I am thankful to Charles and the family for considering reaching out to safely return the lava.
This is the 13th return of lava since I worked at the park. Most are small tokens. All were unaware of the meaning of the memorial park before they removed. All were returned with good energy and prayers… good day today

Sad to announce no tours Saturday 26 and Sunday 27. We are sorting out a hornet wasp nest situation aling the trail. We will re open tours on Thursday august 31… tours will be Thursdays, saturdays, Sundays at 1:00

2022 tours to volcano are Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays at 1:00 from the restricted access road. 1 km north of Lava Lake Picnic Site. is 4 hour moderate hike. bring water, be ready for rain. $30 per person. closed mid October

quick answers ...yes we are open, Vistitor Info Centre, camp ground, auto tours.... sorry no i do not know when Dragon Lake, Museum, or Hotsprings will open..... yes the Nisga'a Rate is real... no i have not seen sasquatch... yes communities are open, but please be safe... yes the fire ban is lifted at the park and in the valley... yes the 93 and 3 year old made the tour unassisted to the volcano... we have been told the tour difficulty is similar to terrace Mountain... it is a 2.6 km walk each direction... sorry no we do not sell salmon yet... hope see you soon
