Today, we join the community in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day!
This is a time to honor and recognize the rich cultures, unique heritage and traditions of Indigenous peoples across Canada. We acknowledge with gratitude that New Westminster stands on the traditional and unceded territory of the Qayqayt First Nation and the Halq’eméylem-speaking peoples. We honour their relationship with this land, as we live, work, and explore this beautiful region together.
We invite you to explore some of the vibrant Indigenous art and culture that enrich our city. We also invite you to gather your friends and family, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy a day of music, dance, culture, and community at Moody Park between 9:30-3pm today. Featuring performances by Logan Staats, Juno Award-winning artist. With other performances by: Coastal Wolf Pack, Jane Wiley, Garrett Currie, Murray Porter, Dysphoria, and IndigiCree.
