Douglas College Music Technology Diploma Two year full-time Diploma program in Music Technology. We also ask that they have some experience with music technology before entering the program.

Students will take a variety of audio engineering courses, covering topics like MIDI, sequencing and synthesis, audio reco

rding, music for film, music scoring, studio setup and maintenance and music ensembles, plus various music electives. We are looking for students who have experience playing or singing (in a school ensemble, for example) and who are musically literate. Although this is not a program for novices. we offer a number of options for upgrading through our Community Music School in any areas that students may lack— so please tell any interested students to feel free to contact us with any questions they may have. If they are not ready to enter the program immediately we also offer a Basic Musicianship program that can provide all the skills they need (when taken with our introductory Music Tech courses). As the MTD is offered within our Douglas College Music Department, we are able to offer access to exceptional facilities, performance opportunities, and a core group of music students to facilitate organizing recording projects and performances. As a public institution we are able to offer a very affordable program (about $4,000 per year) and a proven track record of high quality music instruction. This program is perfect for a student who is interested in music performance, but also wants to explore the technology that is so important in today's music industry. Getting Immersive with The New West Symphony!
Students from the Advanced Live Sound class in the ADAUDI program had the opportunity to capture a full multi-mic, ambisonic immersive recording of the full-chair Symphony. They will be able to use the recording later on to mix it in Atmos as an exercise.

About the event:
‘East Meets West’ musical event brought together Iranian folk music and Western classical traditions in a shared performance that made the audience enjoy a unique blend of Eastern and Western sounds,l and music. The concert was led by conductor Jin Zhang, the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra played alongside Iranian singer Sina Sarlak, with music composed by Kambiz Roshanravan.

Very soon the 2025 cohort of the two-year Music Technology Diploma will graduate and go on on their journey. Not only they have learned and deepen their skills in Mixing, Mastering, Live Sound, Music Production, Recording Engineering, Film and TV Composition, Music Performances, Career development and Communication but they also had to deal with the reality of working as a team, handling schedules and meeting projects deadlines for their Music Technology work.
So come support the hard work of these talented students and check out the projects they will be showcasing on the Portfolio Show on Monday, April 7th, from 2 PM to 5 PM. It will be located at the Concourse of Douglas College, New Westminster Campus.
