Today we had a fascinating visit inside Fort Mississauga. The Fort, for the first time this spring, is open to the public each weekend from 10 am to 4 pm, with guided tours at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. I remember when we used to wander around the Fort and sneak into the tunnel (the one with many names of servicemen that were posted there carved unto the bricks) all the way down to the water. The tunnel was closed during the restoration in 2020, but the guides do a wonderful job with storirs of the Fort and are quite knowledgeable. Many photos and sketches of the Fort are available to peruse outlining its interesting history. And the views from the ramparts are always amazing. Did you know there is a new staircase that leads from the top of the south rampart directly down to the new lakefront path? Definitely worth a visit!
