Mary Scares away Paranormal Investigators

Battlefield House stands as one of Hamilton’s most historic landmarks (in Stoney Creek). A national monument that’s still watching over the site of the Battle of Stoney Creek. *A turning point in the War of 1812.

During that night, Mary Jones Gage listened from the basement, tied beside her family as British soldiers fought to reclaim the Gage Farm.

The British triumphed. Partly thanks to Billy Green’s daring intel leading to a surprise night attack.

With such fear and emotion, it’s said Mary remains. Watching every visitor.

Years ago, two amateur investigators filmed the grounds at night. Expecting only mist or orbs, they caught something far more chilling.

A woman’s face in the backdoor glass of the house. Stern, and to them unmistakably Mary Gage. Maybe warning them to leave her beloved Battlefield House in peace.

Hidden behind North America's oldest Golf Course is Fort Mississauga.

Built on the site of much violence in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Where the American's took the town in 1813 after a vicious naval attack. Killing many British as the rest retreated ... giving up Ontario's first capital.

And it's still there! Recently renovated & you can walk the grounds.

This place made Dundurn Castle look small. Ogilvie Terrace (aka Coleman's Castle) once stood in Dundas!

Built in 1857 by James Coleman, a wealthy merchant and former mayor, it was the grandest home Dundas ever knew — a masterpiece of ambition and elegance.

But behind the beauty came heartbreak.
Most of Coleman’s children met tragic ends, including two in the Desjardins Canal. And soon after, his fortune crumbled.

The once‑magnificent mansion burned down. Taking the rest of his money for renovations.

And worst of all ... fire found it again! Leading to it's demolition in 1971.

Ghost Story | Custom House | Hamilton
A Case of Real Possession

During a two month stretch years ago, we ran intense Ghost Hunts inside one of Hamilton’s most haunted buildings … The Custom House.

Ordinary people in a real paranormal investigation. And this night saw about 50 guests.

Ghost Guide Daniel arrived early to set up. So much happened right from the start tormenting him.

Then came the séance at the end. 50 people formed a perfect circle around a communication device (yes, it was a Ouija Board). The presence that came through was unmistakable: the Dark Lady. AKA, the Custom House’s main spirit and Hamilton’s “oldest known ghost”.

And she was furious.

The planchette circled letters with force. He tried speaking to her, but didn’t respond.

Then suddenly someone yelled, “Daniel, look!” A young girl in the circle began shaking violently, her arms locked at her sides. She couldn’t move.

We later confirmed it was a case of possession. Not like horror movies. True possessions cause a loss of movement. But as long as the person remains calm, the energy will pass. Feels, sort of, like Sleep Paralysis.

The psychic stepped in to perform a clearing ritual, and Daniel quickly ended the night.

Here you see a proud country estate in its full glory as the Leith family enjoyed peaceful days on their sprawling land.

But everything changed in 1934, when fire reduced the mansion to ruins. What remained became something else ...

A legendary haunt, drawing ghost‑seekers and the curious for generations.

Ghost Story | Ottawa Jail
Executed Inmate's Ouija Revenge

In the early hours of April 7, 1868, Thomas D’Arcy McGee, a champion of Canadian unity and fierce critic of the Fenian Brotherhood was shot dead. Happened as he entered his Sparks Street boarding house.

Police arrested Patrick James Whelan, an Irish Tailor with suspected Fenian ties. Saying they found a recently fired revolver on him.

Despite weak evidence, fear of Irish nationalism sealed Whelan’s fate. He was convicted and publicly hanged at the Carleton County Gaol (now old Ottawa Jail) in 1869.

Considered the last PUBLIC ex*****on in Canadian history. As they continued inside the jails until the 1960s!

Years ago, during an overnight stay at the jail, GhostGuide Daniel conducted a midnight Ouija session inside Whelan’s cell.

The planchette moved instantly. A spirit claiming to be Whelan. Just as the cell ‘turned negative’. The entire group, including Daniel, felt it. Anxiety, dread, and not being welcomed.

They left Whalen’s cell and didn’t return for the rest of the trip.

Was Rocco Perri truly heartbroken… or putting on a show?

Captured at Hamilton’s largest funeral in history, this photo shows the city’s infamous bootlegger at the graveside of his wife -- crime boss Bessie Starkman.

After arriving at the Jewish Cemetery on today's Upper James Street. Perri escorted by his “friends,” visibly shaken… until he collapsed in grief before the crowd.

Was it genuine sorrow, or a performance worthy of Canada’s Al Capone?

He watched over Gore Park for 128 years — Sir John A. Macdonald

First statue ever erected in Canada to honour our first Prime Minister once stood at the John Street side of Gore Park.

But today, only the base & War of 1812 cannons remain. The statue removed & stored for political pressure.

But ... this isn’t the first time they moved Sir John A!

Ghost Story | Tivoli Theatre | Hamilton
Nobby the Dog's Ghost Experience

Back when Hamilton’s Tivoli Theatre hosted live shows, the Manager relied on his massive Rottweiler, Norbert (real name & short for Norbert T. Rottweiler), to guard the theatre at night.

Norbert freely roamed the foyer, lobby, and theatre. The Manager never worrying … until one morning when the dog was gone!

He searched the entire building, calling for him. Silence… until he reached the foyer and heard faint whimpering from inside the locked main office.

He unlocked the door and Norbert bolted out. The Manager was baffled. He clearly remembered leaving the dog in the lobby and locking the empty office.

Must check the security cameras! One camera pointed directly at the office door. He gathered a couple of workers and pulled up the footage.

They watched Norbert walk in and approach the closed office door, as if reacting to something behind it. Then the Manager nearly dropped the remote.

The office door opened. Norbert happily trotted in, and the door slammed shut behind him.

Racing back to the office, the Manager checked for any sign of a break in. Nothing at all.
