It all began in 1990 as the “Symphony of Fire,” part of Vancouver’s Expo 86, designed to attract international talent and boost summer tourism. By 2008, it became the Honda Celebration of Light, growing into one of the world’s largest offshore fireworks competitions, drawing up to 400,000 people each night.

Each country’s team launches a fireworks display choreographed to music from barges in English Bay, judged on artistry and impact.

Don’t forget about the massive boat parties on the water, which is where you should be! Watching the sparks fly from the sea, avoiding the crowds, surrounded by good company and the gentle sway of the waves.
