If you love water gardens or horticulture Tirta Gangga is a water palace you don't want to miss.
You can walk on the pillars throughout the ponds with 100's of fish at your feet.
It is maze of paths and ponds that makes you want to keep going to see what is next.
Bali has parks, temples and that are simply breathtaking with beauty.

Day 4, we travelled on the scenlc Road of the Isles to Twillingate.
The first stop was the museum for the Beothuk peoples, of the area, who are all gone now. There was a beautiful spot on the lake for reflection.
Then we visited a museum that showed the ladies antique embroidered items and did a demonstration. There was a wonderful boat museum there as well. The volunteers showed how the wooden boats were built. Russ and I were surprised to see a cedar strip canoe there identical to ours. The people working there had no idea who built it, so we told them it was probably was built by Sundance Canoe in Granvenhurst.
Then we had a stop at Quilt shop.
We finished off the night by visiting a mobile quilt shop and the owner, Leah Loretta came to the hotel to show us her fabulous hand stitch quilt, named Newfoundland.

Day 3, it was a beautiful drive yesterday from Cow Head to Gander. This drive reminded me of Northern Ontario with all the trees, except there were no huge rocks or rock face cliffs along the road.
We stopped at King's Point for lunch and some entertainment. The chowder was one of the best that I have ever had.
Then it was a visit at the whale exhibit. The skeleton of the whale is a humpback, and it would have been 50 ft long and weigh 40 tons.
Then we stopped in Appleton, one of the communities that housed the plane people during 9/11. New York sent them a piece of the twin towers as a thank you.
Last stop was Gander where we will be for the next 2 nights. Supper was at the Curling Club where we had the pleasure of listening to a local band as well as their personal stories of 9/11.
I do feel that although Newfoundland is a province with a population of 500,000 people it is more like a big community.

Today we had a beautiful boat ride on Bonne Bay. We boarded the boat in Bonne Bay and cruise to Woody Point. The scenery was breathtaking, and the cruise director was a stand up comedian, I am sure at some point in his life. He was so funny.
We seen some bald eagles along the way as well.
Everyone in the group was screeched in and now we are honary Newfoudlanders. Such an honor.
We then stopped at Tableland Mountains, only a few places on earth where the range is formed from the Earth's mantle is pushed up by the Tectonic plates. The ground is so toxic very little can grow here.
One of the plants here is the Provincial flower, Pitcher flower. It grows with the flower upside down and the leaves are cupped to catch the rain.
Then we were off to Molly Made's Friber Art Studio, where seen how to do rug hooking, Newfoundland style.
The day was finished with whales giving us a show along the highway going back to hotel

Today we had a boat ride around Bonne Bay. We boarded the boat in Bonne Bay and got off in Woody Point. The scenery was breathtaking and the cruise director was a standup comedian at some point in his life, he was quite funny.
At the end of the cruise the group got screeched in and now we are all honary Newfoundlanders.
We visited Tableland Montains. This is one of the few places on earth where the Earth's Mantle is pushed up where you can see it. The ground is so toxic that very few plants can grow here.
One of the plants, is the Pitcher Flower, the Provincial flower. The flower grows upside down and the leaves form cups to catch the rain to feed the plants.
Then we stopped at Molly Made's Fiber Art Shop, where we seen rug hooking and a knitting demonstration.
On the way back to the hotel the whales put on a show along the highway.
It was a fabulous day!

Yesterday was day 1 of my Quilt Tour on the Rock, Newfoundland. After being picked up by McCarthy's Party, in Deer Lake we were off to Gros Morne National Park, a World Heritage Site because of it's geology.
A quick stop in Rocky Harbour and we were back on the Viking Trail to Cow Head, where we will spending 2 nights at Shallow Bay Motel.
This is a wonderful hotel, with some of the passengers staying in 2 bedroom cottages and the rest of us staying in the motel rooms. If you are planning a trip this is a great hotel with delicious meals.
