As a travel advisor, stories like this are one of my biggest travel nightmares. 😳

This investigation uncovered cases where baggage tags were allegedly switched onto suitcases containing drugs — leaving innocent travellers detained and accused of smuggling.

A very good reminder to:
✔️ Photograph your luggage
✔️ Photograph your baggage tags
✔️ Use an AirTag or luggage tracker
✔️ Double-check your checked bag receipt before leaving the counter
✔️ Never check bags for anyone else

Definitely worth the read — and worth sharing.

Another day, another beautiful coastal walk ❤️

First a stop in Aljezur, for a visit to the traditional market and a coffee before heading out.

Our walk took us from Praia do Clerigo to Praia da Arrifana, and was filled with sweeping vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and the pristine beaches below.

A "home day" today! Lazy breakfast, a second coffee, a visit to the local cafe, a walk to the Sagres fortress, sandwich and a beer in another cafe, and a swim in the ice cold Atlantic before a rest and then a pizza dinner. Despite this being a 'day off' from hiking, I still managed to get in 10 km!!

Walking in Portugal - Remote Coastal Trails Day 4
Today's 15 km walk began near the cliffs near Vila do Bispo village. From here we follow the long-distance marked coastal trail 'Rota Vicentina' along dramatic cliffs famed for their unique geological formations formed by millions of years of geological processes including erosion, tectonic activity and sedimentation. Our finishing point was the lighthouse at Europe's most south-westerly point, Cabo Sao Vicente - the subject of many local photographs. There was an optional 6 km extra to return to our hotel in Sagres, but I opted for a taxi ride back, leaving time for a beach visit, and sampling some local port :-)

Tonight we'll have an included dinner in a local restaurant and try the Cataplana - a traditional hearty Portuguese fish stew 😋
