Ariya: My Honest Review

Those loyal to Virgin Voyages know that Razzle Dazzle on three of the ships has been redesigned and doubles as a specialty dining venue unique to each.

The most recent to undergo a glowup is the Valiant Lady, which now features this beautiful Indian restaurant. (Don't worry, the smoky bacon is still on the brunch menu)

THE AMBIANCE

Lovely Indian music plays in the background, birds and copper accents all around with beautiful plants, the ambiance is really calm and serene. Perfect for a relaxing dinner.

THE PALATE CLEANSER

We were served a coriander mint cold tea from a beautiful ornate teapot. It was a small serving but so refreshing I would have welcomed the entire teapot.

THE COCKTAILS

We opted to try the Smoking Merchant which is tequila based. It had a bit too much spice for my liking so my son finished it.

We also tried the popular Barbar Diva and this was a winner with vanilla vodka, apricot, lemon , sherbert and sparkling w**e.

THE STARTERS

The Gul Guppa shots were fun. You pour your filling in the cup and take it as a shot/bite.

Coconut crab cakes were okay but I've had better crab cakes. The papaya slaw with it was devine.

Goan Curried Mussels.
I love mussels and the curry flavor was spot on but I found the mussels a bit slimy.

Chicken 65
If we hadn't ordered all the other apps, I easily would have gone back for more. It was wonderful! Next time I will not be sharing this appetizer.

THE MAINS

Tandoori shrimp moilee
In creamy coconut curry, served over parmesan grits.
These were good but my favorite shrimp on board remains the skewers at the dock house.

Tandoori Grilled Ribeye
It was so tender. Is it the best steak on board? No
But it was a very nice change.

Lamb Shank Biryani
To be clear, it's a giant leg of lamb that could easily feed two people, served over delicately spiced rice. It fell off the bone it was so tender.

DESSERT
Nope, not this time. There was no room left. But I will be back on the Valiant lady in April and will try desserts then - and get more Chicken 65

Overall, a great dining experience. Some flavors are strong but are delicious and I can't wait to dine here again
